To anyone giving this one a go: Highly recommend keyboard and mouse over a pad.

Hopefully this game isn't as annoyingly narrated as Subnautica was... after watching for 18 minutes, yeeeeaup, another annoying robot narrator thing. I'm so tired of snotty computer voices talking shit to me constantly. Looks really nice though

@strathy: Yeah, just from looking at the QL it looks like controller aiming might be a bit frustrating here.

@rayne117: Funny how we went full circle. We use to think dingle destiny cold voice no wise cracks robot voice was bad so give us more portal or snarky stuff. We then got borderlands claptrap like stuff or portal and now its the ironic isnt all this absurd stuff funny the world is awful. It becomes weirder when games are doing this and you uncomfortably have to chuckle then think wait...thats not far off from insert situation in life here. Anyway I think the humor hits well with enough people that it sells so youll see more of it till another fad. Like how gray shooters were a thing and now fortnite turned everything unintentionally into bright colorful shooters.

Boy, maybe the size of the guns is making it worse, but the FOV in this game is way too narrow for me. Hope it is adjustable.

Ahh this game seems right up my alley! I love this recent trend of games set in colorful alien planets inspired by 50's/60's sci fi art. I hope it comes to Switch.

Point of pedantry: Subnautica's world is fully 'bespoke' as well, the only thing that is randomised is where you start in the shallows.

This is not the most obvious comparison but I'm getting heavy, 3D platformer vibes from this - a la games like Jak & Daxter but first person and a gun.

Dude, it's called the "savage planet", like "dark continent" or "untamed west"? It's really not a huge leap to connect the dots there, especially when the game actually calls you a colonizer.

That doesn't mean the game is altogether bad, but it's a really weird, and imo, pretty ignorant choice to make.

The gameplay here looks like a lot of fun and I really dig the look. I might have to check this out eventually.

Initially the FOV seemed insanely narrow to me too, but after watching some more videos and I think it's just how big the player's hands are on screen making it feel very claustrophobic. It feels like the player is holding their hands like 6 inches from their face and the constant exaggerated bobbing of the left hand when moving drives me nuts.

Does anyone know if you can "put away" your left hand or are you always carrying something?

The mics sound especially bad in this video. Audio balance is way off, too.

"Go to a mysterious planet and kill all the wildlife for lulz" is a really tiresome concept. The very idea is so close minded that I'll guess the narrative is really really bad too.

@sweetz: As far as I can tell you cannot sheath your left hand. There are some tools that are less intrusive than others though, and you get sorta used to it after a while.

Field of View looks pretty low? Definitely seemed to contribute to Ben & Brad missing where to go at the end of that boss fight.

dude this looks rad as hell compared to the trailers. Did not expect this, I will hell of play this ANIMATED AS HECK game next paycheck

I've found Wests audio just getting worse and worse lately. Its especially bad in this video.

Wow some cool concepts but the boss fight taking 10 mins and the humor that is like invader zim level randomcheese monkey dishwasher is telling of why this game is reviewing at 6 out of 10.

Really enjoying this game at 5 hours in. It's like if an indie studio developed a Metroid Prime like game.

Kinda wish they hadn't been this far into the game for the QuickLook, as it's basically spoiling the discovery of things.

One minute in, and we have a near time-to-Brad, followed immediately by a button-mashing slap fight. Nice.

Meh, too much like Subnautica, No Man's Sky and/or Astroneer in both look and feel for my taste. That sort of game has been made THREE times, so unless they make is better what is the point?
And, what is the point against "any of the other" resources farming games?

What's up with the red arrow that's on screen almost half of the video? Made me constantly think Ben had an enemy near him that he was ignoring, but maybe it's another buggy part of the game.

Hot mics in this one for sure. It's especially noticeable when coming off a Beast video. And the gameplay is just too low. Especially when you're trying to show off a new game.

I've been playing this game exclusively single-player, and I can say that so far, it hasn't been hard at all and has been a blast to play. I gotta agree with Brad though, my biggest complaint would probably be that there is no map, which I feel this game could have benefitted from a little bit.

But aside from that, this game is soooooo much fun to play. It really has a heavy Metroid Prime vibe about it, which I really love.
