Yah, they announced this game as being in the Front Mission universe, but quickly ditched any reference to Front Mission in the promotional content for the game. Clearly it's a Front Mission game because of the Wanzers, but it seems very Front Mission in name only. I wish the crew would spend the 30 seconds to read the wiki entry for games they're looking at, but doesn't really matter in this case.

This thing is getting utterly *savaged* on Steam. I can't remember when or if a game from a major publisher has run into such a terrible reception so soon after launch ("Very Negative", 17% positive reviews in only 10 days).

Everything about this game looks like the devs saw MGSV and tried to do that. With about 10% of the budget. From the UI, menus, and weirdly fast run animation, everything looks like a knock-off MGSV.

Apparently you can get free DLC that plasters World of Tanks promos everywhere in the game. Great thanks.

Within like two minutes Vinny referenced Darkwing Duck and Goonies.

I do hope Dan mess around with this thing for a bit more, I know it's early but from my own time with it I think it's a real worst game of the year contender.

Is the enemy approaching, or are you approaching the enemy? Do enemies even exist?

This looks like they outsourced Metal Gear Survive and just made a city game and made it worse.

Eight hours into it here are some things I thought would be fun to share.

-stealth isn't viable for many encounters (you get a straight up minigun for one encounter)

-Molotovs are programmed like the cans, so you can throw them at people, watch them burn to death, and nobody around will care

-The robots are only used for short 3-5 minute sequences

-When purchasing the game there is nothing advertised about a world of tanks tie-in, but it automatically installs a DLC for it which puts their logo on backpacks and graphics around the environment advertising it as well as collectables which are just the names of tanks with a picture of them

Oh boy, that's disgusting. Lets hope that doesn't become a new trend.

Remember Final Fantasy VII? That sure was a good game.

@senate4242: Luckily it's classified as a DLC so on the steam version you can simply uncheck whether it's installed or not before starting the game, same with the Half Life Crowbar skin too. Still super shitty of course, though.

Part of me wants to play this just to be the one contrarian who likes it, but it looks too unpolished even for me.

This guy's a real wanzer.

There's a lot to theoretically like here, the emphasis on traps, the crafting and limited ammo reminds me of The Last of Us or I Am Alive, the UI looks nice and the setting seems like it could be cool.

But the guy sucks, the gameplay seems broken, the interesting setting is betrayed by generic designs, it also seems to be missing a lot of QoL systems that would make it a functional stealth / experimentation game.

To echo Austin's sentiments on Monday's Waypoint Radio, this game definitely looks like it needed another year in development to flesh their ideas out and polish out the jank.

This QL was hilarious though!

Or you could boot up Splinter cell 1-7 and enjoy a good stealth game. XD

I'm sure they say in Front Mission 3, wanzers is pronounced with a "v" instead of a "w".
