Metal Gear Scanlon: 2 - Part 01

Not sure if this is addressed later on in the series, but I really think that @danryckert should have had @drewbert go through the tutorial videos on all the moves you can pull off in this game. It's somewhere there in the options or extras menu, or at least it was in the original (if they took it out of the HD remake, shame on them). They're super, super useful and definitely help in maximizing one's enjoyment with the gameplay of this game.

As a side note, Dan's unrelenting enthusiasm makes this so enjoyable. His stark contrast to the rest of the GB crew's snarkiness—especially of this series—is really refreshing. This series is dumb and convoluted, but man, it's still really enjoyable.

He's actually trying to not lead Drew too much, and let's face it, without anyone to help him this play-through would be rough. Drew is struggling enough as it is.

I don't get hyped about Metal Gear Scanlon, I STAY HYPED.

All those learning moments make me want to set up a camera to film myself when I start a new game. I get incredibly irritated that these "gamers" are so bad at learning the mechanics of the game, but I honestly don't know if I'm the same way - I assume I'm smarter and a faster learner, but of course I would. Maybe that'll be my own series, with blackjack, and hookers.

This is why Metal Gear Scanlon is so good.

You can immediately see this game had far higher production values than MGS1. Ha, The Orange Box. As someone exactly like Drew who's never played a Metal Gear before, I'm really thankful for this series to explain what it's all about.

Love it. These are my favourite premium videos at the moment.

Watching all this stealth'n sneak makes me nostalgic for playing through the good Splinter Cell games for the first time.

I just finished watching the first Metal Gear Scanlon and man you can really appreciate the graphics jump cuz this looks amazing .

Oh man the range of choices are incredible! After having watched Drew play one, i think this game will be so much more impactful!

Those ripped jeans Otacon talked about are in fashion again at least here in Sweden. I see so many people wearing them despite fall coming and it is getting cold. I would never buy clothes that are broken when you buy them.

Holy shit, rewatching this now and just catching Drew saying "This is like the Evil Dead 2 of Metal Gear Solid". He had no idea how right he was.

Finally watching these. Binged MGS1 and now onto this (Didn't start premium till just before 5). I do have to say, a 30+ year old Dan's reaction to a woman with armpit hair is kinda worrying. But minus that, I am really enjoying them. I am getting way more into these than MGScanlon 5. Amazing how the enthusiasm of the people playing the game can make viewing way more enjoyable.

Rewatching this for the first time since release. Gotta say, still kinda cringey to watch Drew try to play this game. I like Dan a lot but his approach to teaching is pretty shit. I hold him to that because he brags all the time about how much he played it but it seems like he is fucking garbage as far as knowledge of the mechanics. Dan is a detriment.

I am a quiet, reserved person - I was screaming "LOOK AT THE FUCKING RADAR" at the top of my lungs during this. It's too bad that this is the experience that Drew gets of MGS, because his lack of familiarity and comfort with the controls and consistent schedule to play the game is what fuels his (obvious) dislike of the game.

I wish Drew had played this alone at home or with Jason.

The end of the year loll has been a great time to finally watch Metal Gear Scanlon.

Drew's Snake voice is so on point that I literally mistook it for a line of dialogue in the game once or twice.

I remember waiting for the UPS truck when I took a day off from school for this. I think I may have done the same for the Zone of the Enders MGS2 demo disc.
