Edit: @danryckert, the DualShock 3 does have analog input on the buttons, I just don't know any game that uses that feature outside of this HD collection. It's just that you don't have to lightly let go of it, as you were saying, but rather lightly hold it down to bring out the gun without shooting it. From there you can apply more pressure so that you shoot it when you let go, or let go of the button so that you bring the gun down without shooting. It's finicky as hell though, and it can take a while to get used to just lightly you have to apply pressure to make it work.

I really wasn't expecting this so soon. I'm stoked!

By the way, the PS3 controller IS PRESSURE SENSITIVE! I just played through MGS2 on it a few weeks back. Letting up gently on square definitely works.

Didn't end up watching all of MGS1 (Metal Gear Scanlon 1) but I am definitely going to watch all of these. MGS2 is one of my favorite games of all time. It absolutely blew my mind when I was 12 when it came out. I remember renting it from Blockbuster because the cover looked cool (didn't know a thing about MGS1 at the time). Fuck the haters this game has because "it's too weird".. NAH, bra, you're weird! Can't wait for Drew to get towards the end and see just how fucking insane it gets.

Hell, jeah.... I remember watching parts of this at friends houses, never seen the whole thing start to finish... this should be an experience.

I'm with Dan when he says that any of the Four main games can be considered the best. My favorite is 1, but having played 2 fairly recently I can see why someone would see it as their favorite.

Hey @danryckert, a couple notes. You can still totally do the pressure sensitive buttons with the ps3 controller, but it's about pressing lightly, not letting off lightly. If you press that H button all the way down, you have to unequip to release without firing. Also, you totally don't need to go in first person view to hold people up, you can do it just by running up behind them and pressing H to draw your gun on them, no fiddling with first person mode required.

So fucking pumped you guys are starting this again so soon!!

@danryckert@drewbert You actually can slowly let go of the square (H) button to cancel a shot and pop back into cover on the PS3, I'm playing through it now. You just have to be really slow, it's a bit touchy.

Also @drewbert this took me a while to figure out, but down arrow on the d-pad will lower the gun without shooting in first person. Or maybe that is just with the vita version? Now that I think about it I think the PS3 controller does have pressure sensitive face buttons.

Reminder to @danryckert and @drewbert -- if you also hold L1 with your gun out, you can move around. This makes it really easy to go from holding someone up behind them, to running in front of them to point the gun at their head or, as Dan so elegantly puts it, their dick.

Right, and wrong. The pressure sensitive buttons work exactly how they did in the original game. Let off square lightlyto cancel pistol fire, and press square lightly to aim with rifles but not shoot. It totally works on PS3.

Question for anyone who played the original PS2 version.

Was the USP Suppressor only in the European version? I remember it being located on the second tier of the mast Drew climbed up at the end of the episode.

The European version had a few quirks and additions ('European Extreme' didfficulty, for example) but I have forgotten over the years whether the USP Suppressor was one of them.
