I sometimes wonder if they made the worst game ever but also filled it full of stupid shit would Dan still love it? I'm betting on yes.

I've always done the same thing and I'm pretty sure it doesn't make a difference which "tab" you assign from, because it assigns all staff. It's why there are options there to only assign from sickbay instead.

And no, they aren't taking advice. Dan only occasionally chimes in with tips that make his terrible strategies that he's enforcing on Drew worse.

Totally. A sign of a good writer is the restraint of cursing, so that when it happens it really means something. Same thing happened in MGS4 with the "So Fucking Hilarious" line landing perfectly... they probably do a lot of takes of that just to make sure they get it right.

I haven't really been keeping up on these as well as I should so I dunno if it's been addressed, but Drew REALLY needs to start listening to cassette tapes. When I saw that he had not listened to 70+ tapes it actually made me squirm in my seat a little bit. So much story, and good side stuff in those tapes.

FYI if anyone is still playing this game... You can totally buy fuel resources. But I don't think Drew can at this point in the game. The only reason I bring this up is because I didn't figure it out until I was damn near done with the game.

You do it from the PF menu. You know, the pointless one where it simulates battles with other players. You can trade the PF points you get for all kinds of resources.

@eboria: Drew has shown that he doesn't really care about the story in this game. His response to tapes when he does listen to them is "oh, whatever".

You can say a lot about Dan, but the man really has a good taste for music. It bizarre that the same man that profess his love of classical music is at the same time obsessed with wrestling.

That jeep section was the BEST gameplay I've seen yet. I have the sudden urge to go romp around in MGSV with vehicles now.

@drewbert@danryckert I think the first time I noticed a growl in a movie explosion is Terminator 2: Judgment Day. When The semi truck the T-1000 is driving explodes in the canal, Sound Designer/Sound Effects Editor Gary Rydstrom added a growl. It's subtle, IMO. I love it. There a few like that in the film.

Which is odd because Drew made it seem like the story was his main draw to the MGS series. And he dislikes open world games. So why is he even playing this game?

I'm still kind of in awe that it seems to be possible to get through this game ignoring 90% of the side content and not using a tranq pistol. Goes to show how insanely easy this one is compared to the past games I guess.

To be fair, the story at this point in the game is kind of easy to gloss over. Chasing shell company after shell company and PF commanders who are talking to cut-outs who are probably receiving materiel from Cipher. There's little hints at what's going on that make sense later, but at this point you're just receiving largely contextless information which makes it easy to say "okay, whatever" and just move onto the next mission. That's what I did, at least.

You mentioned how great the opening of 'Boys Are Back in Town' is (which it is obviously), but then sang the 'Jailbreak' riff!!

@drewbert@danryckert; apparently, Martin Sheen got pissed as drunk and high on drugs or something, and almost died of a heartattack during the shooting of Apocalypse Now. Wouldn't be suprised if his character's scene in the start of the movie, going nuts in his hotelroom, is just a random clip of someone filming him :P

I think I'm enjoying the story more now than when . I played the game.

. When I was playing it I had no idea what was going on but now that I know what happened later in the game it makes some of the earlier story stuff more interesting.(like the headphones in the throat stuff)

Yeah Ace Ventura 2 was like the funniest thing on earth when I was a kid. But 1 is the actual good one that still sorta holds up as a movie.

Also this mission they're doing in the beginning has been bugged for me every time I have tried it. The meeting never happens they just bug out and do weird bug shit.

@gannerone: It actually was just someone filming him. Coppola gave him as much whiskey as he could drink and just filmed the results, he really fucked up his hand when he smashed that mirror.

Lmao at them getting excited over an obvious boaster. He was probably at A rank in something at best.

Man, they really were showing off the ugliness of the microtransactions in this game though. Recently there was an update that added some rank 7 and 8 guns, and the requirements to develop them are so ridiculous that it's obvious they were meant to encourage FOB invasions and also buying MB coins.

One of the sniper rifles requires 6000 precious metal to develop, the rank 8 tranq pistol requires 7100 golden crescent plants. And most of those guns take 12-13 days (real time - continues while not playing) to finish development. But the development is on the server side, which means that you can "finish now" with MB coins on individual guns...

I miss Peace Walker which had the mobile-style development mechanics; where the end-game guns were realistic to develop, unlike this game.
