Reviews: Mirror's Edge Review

Going to grab it this week and check it out.  Some things seem to work and some things seem to not work.

Overall the product seems decent and hopefully can be worked on/perfected.

I'm addicted to this game, it gives you great control over your character and a sense of immersion.  I don't understand complaints about getting stuck or being confused where to go.  Aren't games supposed to have some challenge?  Or should they all be autopilot runthroughs?  You can't get lost, the environments are very small and straightforward.  I enjoyed the occasional challenging spot, having to look at the environment and figuring out my goal and how to get there.

Can you turn off the jump-o-vision thing and just look at the city normally?  Or are there always going to be big red things on pale white things?

Would have been better as a standalone puzzle game.  Get rid of the shooting.

I'd love to see a second opinion review from someone at GB.  It really just seems that you didn't appreciate the game and were pretty bad at it. /shrug

Nice review. I like how Ryan shows that he wants to like it, that its good moments are really impressive and that he actually fews kinda sad with the fact that some of the stuff did not work.

Anyway, I want this game so bad. I'll grab it as soon as I can.

I played the demo and enjoyed it way more than I thought I would, I am going to rent this for sure now.  Although I'm not looking forward to the forced combat sections.

great ending lol

The sense I got from the demo was that this is a wildly original game, that will be short and liberally littered with frustrations and some disappointment. Now all the reviews and opinions out there about Faith's game confirms my suspicions and leaves me wanting Mirror's Edge 2, which will undoubtably have more of what I would want in this game, such as larger more free form levels, more subtle/useful route painting and more combat (or stealth) options.

OK, yes the cut-scenes do look kind of like e-surance commercials, and could have been better in general, but at least they tried for something interesting. I kind of liked them. Though that mash-up was pretty funny, so whatever. Great review, Ryan.

I loved the demo and had high hopes for the game but like most new IPs, it didn't turn out the way it was promised.

LOL!  I never thought of it, but your right this does make me think of esurance!  Too funny!!!  Despite the review, I still want to play this game.  But it looks like a rental to me with no multiplayer aspect.

Lol, why did they waste time making those Esurance cinema's when they had a perfectly good looking engine.  Also god that sounds like the worst plot ever!  Game seems interesting thou. 

Damn, I mean this has got to be one of the best reviews I've ever seen, or read.
And 3:48 - 3:53 is such a great edit, and has Vinny stamped all over it.

I enjoyed this game... Meh, different stroke for different folks I suppose.

As usual, the ending Vinny style twist is awesome and random.
As for mirror's edge, I was kind of expecting the bad rating.

Ryan, did you ever try SLIDING into enemies to take em out?  That way there's less chance of you getting bashed in the head with the butt of their rifle.
