I intend to play this game on the site once i’ve put dozens of hours in and maybe i’ll have more of an in-depth understanding of things.

Quick correction for early on in the video: this is not made by the Chivalry devs, that is Torn Banner, and they went on to make a game that received no love or coverage called "Mirage: Arcane Warfare," which currently has 2 players on Steam. Mordhau is made by an 8-person team called Triternion, consisting of people who played a lot of Chivalry and Mount and Blade.

I'd hope for some African military kit but no one seems to do that.

It depends on the game but i never found a game that "feels" good when vsync is on.

@cristianarg: all vsync does is synchronize your monitor to the games frame rate so your frame rate doesn't exceed your monitors and thus causing the horrific tearing. It doesn't add any latency in fact it prevents latency due to the fact without vsync, freesync, or gsync your frame rate may fluctuate causing dramatic frame drops and of course horrific tearing when the hardware can't match the software. When synced it does it's best to keep it, well, synchronized.

@mikemcn: From what I've seen of people playing they get like 50-100 gold so does it take that long to make 10k? It looks like there is just so unbelievably much stuff to spend money on that money seems impossible to keep up with upgrades.

Yeah sorry I meant no disrespect, but there is a difference between them streaming a quick look with Vsync on vs a consumer not being bothered by it. I found it funny because in this particular instance we would not want them to leave it off because it is very noticeable and incredibly distracting and the very first time it happened I said "man I hope they notice it" just as one of the first comments was in regards to confirming that yes they do turn on vsync.

You're probably playing every game at settings that give you frame rates lower than the monitor's native refresh rate. If your refresh rate is 60 and v-sync is on, it'll go to 30fps any time you dip below 60. Dip below 30 and it'll give you 15. And so on.

In short, you're doing it wrong.

For anyone wondering how to combat v-sync lag, this is the best guide I have seen on the subject: https://www.blurbusters.com/howto-low-lag-vsync-on/

Basically, you want to cap your framerate just below your monitor's refresh. I even do this when playing controller games on a TV. Once you know what low-lag v-sync on a TV with a good game mode feels like, it's hard to go back.

I don't comment often, and I know people have pointed it out, but it kinda sucks to call out the wrong dev. Triternion is a tiny team that has poured a lot of heart and love into this game. I feel like you could take 30 seconds to Google who made it before the QL.

Also, there are 6 modes. 3 of them are accessible easily through the server browser.

A conversation has to happen between devs and media/public on what it takes to have diverse characters. People assume you just throw in black to the color palette, which you can if you are lazy. But to do it right -- and to be respectful of a diverse audience -- it takes time as you need to redo how textures/lighting works. It's like film. You can tell when a director puts a lot of thought into how to light actors of color (see: Moonlight) and when not. Maybe this has changed over the years, but I attended a game dev panel a decade ago that went into detail on this topic. It's more complicated than people assume.

Those lute kills are worth the entire video.

Like I said, if you turn it on when you don't need it in the first place, it'll do bad things to your frame rate. You're not pushing enough frames anyway, so...
