This is seriously as creepy as fake VR from the books and movies. Someone is going to die wearing this for too long. My post is still here from 2016, you hear my 2045?! I'm retiring in a few years....you fucked up.

THE FUTURE

As an older guy I have to say, it has been too long since I watched a preview on a new type of game and was blown away with all the newness and potential. Really that hasn't happened since the beginning of the polygon era with the PS1/N64. I know this stuff is kinda rough right now but man... this has potential to change games completely. I love it.

You know. I liked this site. But Jeff making fun of my Voodoo 2 is just the straw on the camels back.

@nmjohn: That's weird because I'm using a DK2 and every free thing in the store has worked perfectly for me.

@nmjohn: Crazy. Can't say I'm terribly surprised. There's multiple hardware version, multiple driver version, multiple store versions and differently supported games/apps in the store. It sounds like I just got on the wrong combo one some of these. Thanks for mentioning it's at least possible :).

One weird trick to watch this in 3D!

In case you don't already know, you can watch some of these games in 3D from this stream on any monitor. It works for the games that show two gameplay screens, one for each eye.

focus your eyes through and behind your monitor until the two images overlap and relax your eyes - the merged result will be 3D. If it looks inverted, you focused the wrong direction (crossed your eyes). if you did it right, your eyes will focus on the merged image and its almost effortless to keep that way.

Just make sure you make the video window small, focus, then increase the size slowly until it's no longer comfortable or you can't focus (I downloaded the vids). If the two images are small to start, it's much MUCH easier. You do get a feel for the scale this way, which is not well conveyed in 2D.

I'd like to see This is Cinerama re-filmed in 360. I think VR is interesting, but we're in comparatively the Atari 2600 days; I think it's going to take a decade of so until we get every day VR which works for everyone. We'll just have to wait and see if this turns into a Cinerama equivalent or something that becomes mainstream.
