holy fuck, "She kicks high" is such a deep cut. It was a funny ad, but christ, it's easy to forget how skeevy and desperate video game advertisements used to be.

This video is unbelievably quiet. I have everything cranked 100%, loudness equalization set to maximum volume, and it's still just barely audible.

Not a stellar demo disc, but that's the original Xbox for you, I guess. Good job with showing it off, though, as always!

Ballers went for a more technical thing like Jeff said but it felt super mechanical and annoying then. There were limited options as far as how to beat certain things thrown at you and what moves worked so it just was not fun to play. In theory if anyone should love a more technical game and one on one game bball game it's me.

NBA Street had some of those annoying elements to an extent to me as well but had tons of cool other stuff going on that were the main focus.

As far as style and music, Street is vastly superior.

We had a game developer (or possibly publisher) come to my middle school to show off games for career day or whatever and one of the games was NBA Ballers. I believe it was still in development at the time. Played that game beat some classmates. I was promised a video game to take home but never got one. One of the options was Simpsons Hit and Run. That's my only connection to NBA Ballers. Played well from what I remember.

You could tell if this was Joss Whedon if every single character couldn't help but quip at least once every time they appear on screen.

I kinda wish they'd put that Alias game out as an emulated PS2 game on PSN, even if it's not the greatest game it'd be nice bit of nostalgia. But between the TV license and Acclaim being long gone it's probably too much work getting all the necessary rights.

Looks like it was the final game by Probe Entertainment, not the greatest developer but I think I played a bunch of their ports over the years.

Hahaha I will never forget drunken Dave Lang's take on NBA Ballers: "Teamwork is fundamentally interesting in basketball. Let's get rid of that"

I always thought that Silent Hill 4 trailer was really cool. Some parts are a bit goofy but that game had some pretty creepy moments. Too bad the gameplay was kind of shit. I think the only Silent Hill I have really enjoyed is the first one.

I remember being really into the first Splinter Cell on PC. Like Jeff though I am horrible at stealth games so it was a lot of trial and error.

I'm not trying to jump on the anti-Ben bandwagon, but he was simply grating in this video. I just turned it off a third of the way through.

That Alias game is the sort of thing that's totally missing from the world right now, AAA developers are making very few sorts of games, first person shooters, open world adventures, loot based RPG's, indie dev's are making rogue-likes, 2D platformers, metroidvania's and other unique concepts, but the kinds of games we saw during the fifth and sixth generation are lacking. I want to see modern interpretation's of PS1/2 games.

Real talk, I still think Konami is okay. You can't deny their legacy of classic games. They just got smart and focused on things they thought they could succeed with, rather than keep trying to make poor sequels that nobody wants, because all the talent has left the studio.

@boonsong: Silent Hill is one of my favourite series ever, and SH4 was one of my favourite games for a number of reasons. Unfortunately I just can't find a way to play it anymore since I can't play my PS2 on anything, can't find a PC version, and an XBOX version I bought apparently wasn't backwards compatible on X360.

And the SH4 trailer was always badass, especially with Mary McGlynn's vocals (which has pretty much made SH one of the greatest series for soundtracks ever). I really don't get the hate for Silent Hill and Resident Evil here at GB since both these series set benchmarks that are still followed today. Just look at the other crap on this demo disc and compare it to SH4's level; there is no comparison, and SH4 was considered a low point in the SH series at the time.

Really hope the whole "Shouting words is funny" mindset goes away soon. Parts of this were unwatchable. Never thought that about a giantbomb video before.

Jeff's Tribe Called Quest reference was perfect.

He was seen only briefly during the opening cutscene, but the "Alias" demo had a really nice Carl Lumbly character model. Now I really want to rewatch some of that show...
