Looks like a good supplement to Alan Wake... though I wish that Arcade mode has some co-op capability....

With the success in sales for the PC version of Alan Wake, my hopes of this one off coming to the platform are a little higher. If we're lucky we won't have to wait 2 years again!

What's Ryan talking about? Running out of supplies was a problem in AW?

That's the opposite of the truth! One of the worst parts of Alan Wake was the complete abundance of supplies. There was never any tension, because you always had plenty of ammo/flares/batteries to deal with any situation. (played on Hard)

My favorite part of the video:

When I realized I was watching Ryan and Patrick watch Alan Wake watch a FMV of a guy sitting on a bed doing ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOTHING

I can't believe Ryan thought the combat was that bad. As far as 3rd person horror games go I thought it was way better than Resident Evil, Silent Hill, ect.. Hitting them with the light first felt very satsfiying when the made the change so they could be shot. The dodge worked really good with the slow mo. Can't wait to play this, buying it day 1.

Yeh I also don't agree with them on the combat. I thought it was really well made and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

@Sveppi: If you have the money, the new 360s are well worth the $200 or so especially when they are packed with some games around holiday season. I got a digital copy of Alan Wake with my purchase, though I don't think that bundle still exists? Worth it eitherway, even just for an upgrade of storage space (never buy the stand alone drives unless you like throwing money into the trash).

No idea about the size but when you go to download, or if you view the content on the xbox.com site it will list the size there. When it comes out of course:

This is $15 right? I normally don't pick up XBLA games for full price, but I might make an exception here...

@thebigJ_A: Yeah i played through Alan Wake a number of times and my favorite occasion was definitely on nightmare difficulty. Every fight quickly became a dire situation where i had to ration my flares and bullets just to survive. Normal difficulty was a cakewalk for me. Maybe Ryan didn't really look around much while playing the game?

As a really big fan of the first Alan Wake, I'm really excited for the awesomely named Alan Wake's American Nightmare. The game looks great in this Quick Look, and I've heard the story mode is pretty lengthy (about 5 hours), plus it's got the Fight 'Til Dawn mode to add some replay value.

Come on Patrick! Skipping cut scenes and story parts!? lol Where Brad dies in these, Patrick skips stuff by accident. <3 But in all honesty, I had to go WTF when Emma is attacked by the darkness and the game just kinda shrugged it off. A true Alan Wake game would have forced you via the light mechanic to go investigate that instead of shoot you off to another location entirely. It made absolutely no sense how they made that transition to her being attacked while you were in the diner to then investigating hotel rooms to them teleporting to the observatory without giving you an option to keep looking.

Am I seriously the only one that really liked the combat in Alan Wake? Even at the harder difficulties I almost never had a problem with ammo since I became real good with the dodge and was able to pull off headshots 98% of the time. I felt that the combat was incredibly satisfying when you dodge around enemies and then take them out with a single flare shot or flashbang.

They mentioned a couple of times that ammo was hard to come by in the first Alan Wake......

Did I play a different game? I remember being constantly full on ammo, batteries etc

Does anyone know who is the voice actor for the announcer? Maybe I'm crazy but he sounds a bit like Steve Blum. Now there's a voice actor that deserves his own award category for the last 2 years. This was a very informative quick look. I might get this game just to see more of the crazy Remedy stuff.

This actually seems way better than Alan Wake to me, though repeating the areas three times sounds like a bummer. The move to TV writing makes Alan's bad writing make a bit more sense. Also, Alan's writing got way better, which helps a lot again!

@IkariNoTekken: Yeah, I thought this was weird, too. There seems to be this idea that old works don't benefit as much from the added resolution that blu-ray provides. This is just patently false. Anything that was shot on 35mm film stands to benefit when you bump up the resolution. Hell, even 16mm films like the Evil Dead series or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre see an improvement.
