Quick Look: Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel

Except they didn't change anything about the gameplay, just moved the setting. This series's always been in a co-op-oriented shooter.

So speaking as a person who configured it for his WWIV BBS, I loved the HS/Link joke. I'm probably one of three people who got it (the other two being Jeff and Ryan)

I know lore isn't the most important thing in Army of Two, but I'm a little upset they turned Salem into a villain. I... enjoyed co-oping the first army of two, never played the second. Don't know if there were some signs of a "darker" side to Salem shown there. Either way, its kind of a bummer to see a broship ruined.

Oh man, they really shook things up in the much-loved Army of Two franchise. I can't wait to see what they do with the next one.

Yep, this sure looks like the third Army of Two game

I think they're getting it twisted. The first Army of Two was really generic military/ war on terror BS. Army of Two: The 40th Day let you put freakin' rainbow jigsaw patterns on your gun, along with fist/ chest bumping, rock paper scissors games between Salem and Rios. Plus, 40th Day was all hell of crazy with Shanghai blowing up all around you for no particular reason.

I'm still awaiting a release of his 'Baseball' song.

On topic: the quick looks are really the best things about these games. I'd probably pick it up for 10$, if it were out for PC, but since it's consoles only I don't have to waste my time and money.

Yeah the first game was quite fun in co-op, actually required teamwork and some tactical play in a way most such games don't. A good rental or 'buy for a weekend and trade it'

I actually enjoyed the first one for its sheer dumbness, never played the second one, and man. Just man.

i actually really liked the first army of two game. liked the characters and liked the coop gameplay built abound the agro system. 40th day looked like shit to me so ended up not getting it. same with this.

Had a ton of stupid fun with the first one with a friend, sad what happened to this series.

No Wu Tang Clan references!? That was the only reason to make another Army of Two! That is weak if the rest of the game doesn't have any.

I liked that some (many) of the assets in the turret sequence were borrowed from BF3.

Including the cylinder container things and the crane.

The 40th Day was clearly the better game, in many ways. I do feel like Jeff is getting them backwards perhaps.

The gun customization was also super crazy in 40th Day, you could take the barrel straight from an AK and throw it on a FAMAS with the stock from a G36 and it would totally work as some kind of horrifying frankengun.

Throw some weird ass camo on top of that monstrosity and you're good to go.

One of you clever kids should photoshop Ryan and Jeff's faces into that still.

I really like the first two Army of Two games, not saying they are great games, but i liked them and had a lot of great times with friends in the co-op and getting all the multiplayer achievements before they took the first Army of Two offline. I played the demo for this awhile ago before I bought the full game, and I noticed two things in the demo that told me this wont be soo great. One- NO ROLLING! I like rolling around like a dumbass in the other games. Two- No way to show love or hate, or play rock paper scissors. Come on! When my friend would save my ass I would give him a high five or rock out playing air guitars. Or deciding who should do what with rock, paper scissors. Not in this game and thats a bumber duders. Now fast forward to when I got the full game (still knowing I'd have a good time with the game) and start playing, I notice Salem and Rios. Well people pretending to be them. They look completely different. I know years have past they should be older but they didn't look like that. Was it just me or did Tyson's nose look fucking huge! I dont know, maybe its just me, my dad, no one, okay. But I had so many great memories with the first and second games, and for them to go from discussing their favorite wu tang rappers to idk some generic guys, I just didnt like it. Plus the new voice actors for them are kinda bad, not sure if Tyson was the same guy but Elliot was not voiced by Nolan North, or was he? He is a very good voice actor. Anyway! I still liked this game a lot. Im a sucker for customizing characters so me customizing my own mask, guns, tattoos, gear, and stuff was a plus. Seeing Skull Candy gear tho felt out of place. And having the mask creator in game was a lot easier then going online to do it in the past game, but in the past game I made a cool mask and had my gamertag on the side (that doesnt sound cool but it looked cool) and in this one you cant use words, but that makes sense because they dont want people with "FUCK" on their foreheads. The new Army of Two guys are okay too. Oh shit, this is a long comment.

Scene with the girl was complete nonsense. Why would these two friends, hardened mercenaries both, break up the instant one of them saw a mildly attractive damsel in distress? She doesn't mean anything to either of them.

Strange that the youtube version of this video is 8 minutes shorter, and cuts out just as the MP starts.

And here is another shining example of how reviewers are killing the mid-tier games. Why would any company put this game out at $40 and have game site just talk shit about it while playing it. They might as well put it out at $60 and have game site talk shit about it.

I'm not saying this is a 5 star game but just pointing out why we will never see $40 AA title games.

Why is it the fault of the press that budget titles are dying? It speaks to market trends. Press coverage mirrors those market trends. They shut the studio behind this game down before it came out AND they released it up against one of the most anticipated games of this year. I don't think EA was really confident in the quality of the product.

So Joe Flannigan is the voice of Salem now(Col. Sheppard in SG Atlantis)? If he wasn't relegated to a secondary character i might consider this game worth playing.

Yeah same here, who knew he was such a good voice actor, I just hope he shows up in better games in the future. He has a very distinct voice

Also, I love that Jeff saw the story of this game coming a mile away. I feel like this is an OK game, and I'm sad that none of them are on Steam. Could be a fun mindless playthrough.
