They are not mispronouncing Babel... It is technically pronounced as Ba-ble similar to how people pronounce Babylon.

Long story short... no one really knows how to pronounce it. Everything is right.

It's oddly fitting that it seems no one can agree on how to pronounce "Bable".

Maybe he's going deep with some Babylonian references that made their way into Greek culture...such as the shadowy reflections of Elysium being the best one can hope for in death. Then again he had to ask if Korean artistic style was synonymous with Japanese, which even if objectively definable would probably cause a stroke in many residents of those nations.

In the context of early civilization they're a hell of a lot closer to each other than they are to... just about any other society or center of power.

I got the impression Bay-bel was British English and Bah-bel was the rest of the world. Technically the latter is correct; we in the UK just got hit with this great vowel movement some time ago that shifted its pronunciation. It was as painful as it sounds.

Cain and Abel have nothing to do with the Tower of Babel. King Nimrod was in charge of Babel, which I believe is why his name is now a derogatory term. For what it's worth, my favorite game that includes the Tower of Babel is Illusion of Gaia (I think Terranigma might've mentioned it as well).

In hebrew it's bah-vel. So in english I pronounce it babel rather than baybel.
