The first time I heard anything about this game was on Joe Rogan's podcast.

I would rather play 10 hours of Aliens Trilogy or Twisted Metal (or pretty much any other contemporary) than 1 hour of Loaded.

This game is the definition of mediocre.

@homelessbird: All I remember about Loaded is that I was into the aesthetic because I was 16, co-op was pretty fun, and Pop Will Eat Itself was on the soundtrack.

This looks like a Gameloft game.

I'm a twin stick shooter junkie. I'll pick this up once it drops under $15. this video actually sold me.

Aw, I thought this would be a terrible FPS with awful 90's vintage dude-bro humour but it's just...a mostly forgettable top-down shooter.

@mlarrabee:Blood's my favorite of the bunch too. Figures that it's the only one tangled up in ownership weirdness that prevents source ports and whatnot.

@buzz_clik: Wasn't it fantastic? A little quaint in the face of Quake, but Build games had a certain feel and moddable openness to them that nothing else did. One of the all-time best level editors, as well. (save for its tendency to crash at the worst time)

Honest to God, if Gearbox announced a brand new Duke Nukem game from the ground up at E3 I would be super excited for it.

Totally agree. I would have been interested in this as kind of a fun time-waster, but I'm not 35 bucks interested.

I am very interested in new Duke Nukem but then I found the uproar over the last game to be ridiculous. It was Duke Nukem and is something we need more of now not less. Would say more but would likely get deleted.

All I remember about this game was this absolutely garbage trailer put out for it back in 2014, only 2 years ago and simply laughing my goddamn ass off how awful it looked then.

Guess not much has exactly changed.

@shagge: There's a Russian fellow named Alexander Makarov who has been working on a source port called BloodCM since 2008, through the necessarily very roundabout route. Since Duke 3D was made open source, a port called EDuke32 was programmed. Makarov has converted Blood's assets and written custom scripting, and has so far gotten episodes 1-3 working perfectly within EDuke32, and episode 4 is 99%. He hasn't started on the PlasmaPak or Cryptic Passage expansions, but the latest activity on his dev blog is from January 28th of this year (describing E4's release as imminent), so he's obviously still hard at work. The screenshots on his page look pixel-perfect. My installed GOG copy runs terribly, so I'm definitely going to give it a shot.

EDIT: And less than twenty-four hours later he's uploaded the version with episode 4!

@mlarrabee: Holy shit, thanks for the heads-up. This looks extremely promising. EDuke always seems to allow for increasingly amazing things.

I wonder how long it will take for the first Duke/Shadow Warrior/Redneck Rampage/Blood/NAM/Ken's Labyrinth giant mashup mod. :P ... Wait, oh man, I actually really want that now.

But even if it was 15 bucks, why would you waste time with it when there are much *better* $15 dual joystick time-wasters to play? Nuke Throne ofc, Starward Rogue just came out and is good.

Jak 3 and Ratchet 2-3 are fantastic games.

Copping out, saying the game sucks, and being silent for like half the video isn't entertaining. Got better at the end. Maybe this was recorded first thing in the morning...

Did brad say this game looked kinda nice toward the end? If so, I think the capture gear is messed up because I thought this game looked like it could be on PS2.

The best part about this Quick Look was Dan's reference to Loaded. God I loved that game!

I have a soft spot for top-down/isometric games but this is about as exciting as smelling scented markers.

I'm not really into dual joystick shooters, but they're making a prequel FPS using the BUILD engine (Duke Nukem 3D/Blood etc.) that you'll get if you buy the deluxe edition of this, and that is uncomfortably tempting.

I mean your not wrong, but my point was 35 for this game in 2016 is fucking INSANE. Even if it was a much better game thats a lot for a dual joystick shooter.

When this was going to be a Duke game Bombshell was going to be your partner. I think there was talk that it would have had co-op but when they were told they couldnt use Duke they crapped this out.

@poke__egg: I and many others find the personalities of the current GT to be a lot more entertaining to watch than the current state of the personalities on Giant Bomb.

Hopefully those guys (Brandon Jones, Kyle Bosman, Daniel Bloodworth, Michael Huber, Ben Moore, Brad Ellis, Ian Hinck, and a few others) bounce back to form a new venture, much like how Giant Bomb did post GameSpot. They're all friends, and on the last broadcast, alluded to wanting to still work together.

Not expressly bad, but dull as ditch water.

This is pretty much how I'm feeling. It's not bad, it just is.

This game looks so much less terrible than I thought it would. This quick look is in every way better than the trailers.

This looks like a fake game that people would play off to the side of a scene in a movie or tv show.
