The actual hunting in this looks like an even lower-effort version of the nonsense action combat of Cabela's Most Dangerous Hunts or whatever those games were called.

Really the whole thing besides the open-worldness reminds me of Dangerous Hunts except worse

Having to click in the left stick but also use the same stick to control where you're running is the real crime against nature here.

I think this is hilarious. The cutscenes and voice acting make me almost want to play this. But just almost.

I also don't see the difference between fun/dumb (intentionally or not) shooters where you kill people and others where you kill animals. It's stupid either way and you shouldn't do any murdering in real live whatsoever, so what gives?

I will never accept that killing animals is somehow worse than killing humans. Ever. There are maybe exceptions, separate cases, like self-defense, but killing a self aware being with feelings and emotions is in my mind unfathomably worse.

Well in my opinion, animals are better than a lot of people. I love animals and do not tolerate cruelty to them. People on the other hand, there are a lot of stupid and cruel people in this world that would betray each other and murder each other, rob, do drugs, insult each other and on and on. So screw the majority of the human population, but that's just my opinion. I don't interact with other people in my life but I would be happy to live among animals.

Damn, this game is bad. It's sexist, it's racist, it's a game about killing endangered animals in insane ammounts. And mind it, I'm from Russia, where these concepts have much less power. And even then, that hero is just rotten.

Hunting Unlimited 2010 is still the best hunting game.

I almost want to play this game. It looks so wonderfully stupid and psychotic. I don't know how Alex and Vinny are finding gems like this and Lucius 2, but they're freaking fantastic.

Animals very much have feelings and emotions, but the argument probably is it's wrong to kill something that has no agency and acts on instinct while being essentially defenseless.

I'd rather people get their rocks off by shooting video game animals than the real life endangered species, but I can't help but think this game is doing it in the weirdest possible way.

If you've never been to a Cabela's store, definitely seek one out. They are nuts.

I remember when things like Deer Hunter used to be about waiting downwind from an animal, using musks and tree stands and following footprints in the snow. They were boring as shit but at least they tried.

Oddly enough, the color scheme of the horrible cutscenes just makes me want to replay Gunman Clive.

Eh. *shrug* I think some people are working way too much into this game. It's a ridiculous exercise in product-placement with bizarre cut-scenes, a ludicrous premise, and surprisingly competent gameplay mechanics. Laughing at it is the right response, because you're recognizing how dumb it is. Laughter shows an awareness that this game doesn't represent reality in the slightest. Besides... if hyper-intelligent gangs of wild animals stole a cultural artifact from a local tribe, divided it up amongst themselves, and gloated in their dastardly deeds, I think someone hiring a wannabe reverse-Batman to sort it all out with Cabela branded weaponry would be as logical a response to the situation as you could hope for. :-D It's just dumb, dude. Relax. Save the indignant rage for the next game to have a brothel level or something. *teasing poke*

Looks like the perfect blend of Red Dead Redemption and Bloodborne, 10 out of 10 would cheat on their wife with it!

You don't need to spring up in defence for the Giant Bomb community because it is not under attack, I stand by that Giant Bomb quick look comment field is not the place for a discussion on serious issues. Maybe there is some place on this site where that discussion is to be had but I haven't seen it so far.

Re-watch the quick look again 3.40 - 3.55 as you didn't pay attention to the story premise.

It is not hyper intelligent animals that have stolen a cultural artefact.

The ignorant local tribes (Who live in poverty and is dependant on white charity) are superstitious and attribute power to a statue. One tribe steals the artefact and hide the parts it in animal lairs. White hero has to retrieve it as the locals can take care of themselves killing the animals that belong to them in the process.

If I made this game I make the following changes.

1) If you shoot your rover, it ricochets to always kills you.
2) The more animals you kill the more depressed you character sounds, when you win the game you place your rifle under you chin and pull the trigger with your toe.
3) If an animal kills you, it drags you off a few feet and then pisses or shits on your corpse.

Oh man, cmon, at the interlude when GI joe in his jumpsuit is talking to the lady, it's so awful and awkward, if you were a Cabela's customer how would you not feel they are making fun of you at that point?

@monkeyking1969: all the animals are hyaenas, they dodge every shot you take, and they're constantly laughing at you.

Wow this game is offensive. Yet so compelling for it's sheer audacity and 'not one fuck given' attitude. The cut-scenes were freaking priceless. This is one of my new favorite Quicklooks. Vinny is hilarious.

So you can kill as many African animals that you want, but the game won't let you get in the vehicle to run them down when you are under attack? This game actually does have ethics! Fuck this game and Cabellas. Why do people buy this shit?
