Quick Look: Costume Quest 2

I didn't realize it had been so long since the last Costume Quest! Not that I played it, or anything.

Talk about time travel movies REALLY makes me want to see Looper again. I haven't seen it since it was in the theater, but man, that movie is GOOD.

Also good if you want something time travel related: Steins;Gate.

I really didn't realize it was 4 years between them. I figured it was about 2, 3 would be tops. I'm excited to play this though even though it seems a bit similar. It's just fun to play a nice halloween game around this time.

Wow, this look really underwhelming. Lots of reused assets, and the mechanics aren't any different. I'm very disappointed. I enjoyed the first game but did find it repetitive and I don't have any interest in more of that.

Is it safe to assume that Time Wizard is from the Moon?

So the specials are always the same animation? How is that different than 80% of any other RPGs? Seemed like a redundant thing to mention.

JCVD is incredible. And if you liked Primer you should check out Upstream Color by the same guy.

I'm wondering, has Alex maxed out his candy? It seems to be stuck at 2000 in the lower left corner. Might be some sort of currency that he could possibly buy better equipment with so he does better in combat. This is pure conjecture, of course, I haven't played this game and as he noted, it's been 4 years since the last one.

The new movie by the Primer guy is Upstream Color. It's great.

These have to be trimmed down a bit. Almost every GBEast QL is an hour long and loses its way around the 30-45 minute mark. It's okay for mechanically dense games, but most of these games show their hand within ten or fifteen minutes.

I trick or treated 'til I was 20 something. Haven't gone the past few years, partly because it's so freakin cold outside up here at the end of October in the northern regions of the US. I still want to go! I'm in a new town this year and don't know where to go though.

This looks fancy. Although I never actually played the first game. I have it on Steam, but I'm pretty sure I only ever played the demo on Xbox around when it came out and always thought about buying it.

In the original, there was a max candy limit, but it could be greatly increased at certain points in the story when you find bigger trick-or-treat bags. It's likely the same case here.

Best movie with time travel is Terminator 2.

I'm at the 30 minute mark and Alex candy bag has been pegged at 2K since the start and he hasn't mentioned quests yet. This is a rough one.

Also, having just beaten Grubbins on Ice today, it's clear they've done a little bit to make this sequel more challenging. No auto healing between fights, more attack variety, etc.

Reese's 4 lyf. It's dangerously good. York peppermint patties come in 2nd. Junior Mints don't come in bulk otherwise I'd get them more.

it really really urks me that there is a hard 2000 candy limit and they just keep getting candy.

It has been long enough since the first game that I'll play this and surely enjoy it as much for its charm, but it is a shame they didn't change more. The first was definitely flawed but a fun little thing for this time of the year.

Is the Candy Corn a tribute to Porky Minch and his uselessness in battle?

Primer lovers in the house!

This appears to look, sound, and play exactly like the first. I liked the first game but I don't think I'll play this one. I was pretty sick of the whole gameplay loop by the end of the little 'Grubbins on Ice' add-on.

I remember the first Costume Quest not being too difficult but Alex is having quite a bit of trouble in this one, I hope this game doesn't require level grinding.

The first Costume Quest was super fantastic. Looking forward to seeing how this one turned out =]
