Less shotgun more hose!

Focus on getting the path on the first couple of spires down and youll be much more reliable with the spiderskull.

Bunny hopping is essential after the ridged horn skulls start appearing.

I don't know. The game looks interesting enough, but it just doesn't look like the sort of game I actually ever want to play. At least past 5 minutes anyway. I like the art style though.

Played this game when the SFV servers aren't working. Just broke 2mins after about 10 tries. I usually lose interest in games that make you start fresh over and over unless they have a large array of systems. But this for some reason is different and I really enjoy just jumping in and shooting things.

Probably my soft spot for bunny hopping.

I would actually love to see a full Doom style game out of this.

Maybe I am imagining things, but I am certain that moving diagonally, with a finger on two keys at the same time, is usually faster, with jumping in the same direction as the next level of speed.

Hosing the spider from a distance might be the key? Haven't tried it yet, but the defense stance where it hides its weak points usually doesn't happen then?

Hosing the spires is also much more effective than shotgunning them. Also, shotgunning is distance-sensitive, so the big skulls will actually die with a very short range shotgun blast. Usually, it's better to shoot continuously, though.

There are also some pretty strong misconceptions about mouse sensitivity going around, too, so I would recommend reading up on that!

Pretty sure it says 13 ENEMIES on the Steam page, and it advertises itself as an endless arena in the description? I hope that gets expanded.

If you're not using slag deflection off the ground to take out big groups of skulls you're pretty much ignoring the third weapon in the game.

Wait! If the game has an actual end, what purpose does a leaderboard based on how long you survive make when you're comparing the time between those who beat it? Sure, there probably just going to be a very small percentage of the players actually beating it, but still. Let's say ten people beat it, who do you consider being the better player?

Unless the game just loops and keeps the timer timer going. That would be the only logical solution in my opinion. If not, are you just going to circle strafe the last boss without killing it for as long as possible to end up on the top?

The Steam store page mentions that there are 13 enemy types in total and we have now seen 8-9ish? Assuming that the spawning spires also count for that.

Okay, assuming they haven't thought of that and implemented an "you took too long, you get obliterated" thing (akin to what happened to Dan when the game glitched out on him), that would seem like a good tactic. So you are right, that's weird.

@drewbert@unastrike Video levels are still set incorrectly for all of your PC footage, and have been since you moved to the new studio. (not a result of the Windows 10 upgrade)
This results in all the footage being washed out because the output is approximately 16-235 instead of 0-255.

It is particularly bad here since this game is mostly black.

The dagger colors are bronze, silver, gold and... red? You get gold at 250 seconds and red at 500, so I assume silver is 125. You unlock the achievement when you survive for 500 seconds. So far there's one guy who's done it (DraQu).
Prioritize the horned skulls and squids early on, stop shooting when you kill them to make sure you collect every gem, small skulls are easy to clear and kite around. You want to have the arena clear when the spider spawns, listen to the sound effect to find it, just run up close to it and use the stream to deal a lot of damage quickly. If you can't kill the spider immediately, kill the viking looking motherfucker and then go back to the spider.
The centipede dives underground when you go under it, so avoid it when it spawns and kill the spider, then line yourself up in front of the centipede to kill it in one go.

No chance in hell there's 13 bosses in this game, I just don't think there's that much content. I wouldn't be surprised if we've seen all the enemy types and that the "ending" is just surviving that final wave because that shit is fucked.,

Bought this when you played it on upf, fantastic game, lasted about 80 secs, got the first weapon upgrade and died instantly even before I could fire it. Never lasted that long again.

I don't think the game has an ending, after the chandelier it probably just starts throwing everything at you until you die.

Especially considering that the single achievement is unlocked when you survive for 500 seconds.

This seems like someone released a tech demo level for an unfinished game. Like, they coded the AI and created the assets, then used a lot of random generation. I wonder if Capcom could have done a similar tech demo for a Lost Planet or Vanquish, and would it also of been fun.

I agree that this game seems neat, but I can't get on board with the sentiments of "this game is SO GOOD" or this game is "FUCKING AMAZING". I personally need a bit more to my games than "Do the exact same thing you did before, but better".

I can imagine how addicting this game can be when you have a bunch of friends fighting for place on the leaderboards, though.

Brad uses the shotgun kinda way too much in the beginning. The regular stream of bullets is way better for hitting the spawners and the spider.

@nintendonick: What's costing him his runs is that he keeps shooting when there's gems on the field despite of himself saying that you want the gems and that shooting pushes the gems away.

The first upgrade can be obtained a few seconds after the first spider skull thing dies if you manage to get all the gems that inevitably drop before it.

@kamui: That's the countdown that plays before the bumper on quicklooks. Usually only the staff can see it to count in when they are supposed to start talking but sometimes they leave it in the video and let us see it for some reason. Jason must of hit a wrong button lol
