Quick Look: Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening

I almost picked this up today. But I'm still slugging through chapter 11 in FFXIII so I'll just wait till I finish that before going back to Fereldan. Looks great!

Hilarious Quick Look, it being the third time really helped the banter!

Runemaking is insane in this expansion! There's runes giving +2 elemental damage (fire/ice/lightning) or critical chance/damage increase! I love it. Wasted well over 300g on upgrading my weapons and armors.

And the new skills make Warriors/Rogues rape on both defense and offense, I was worried they'd overpower mages with the new battlemage class. Rogues being 'capable tanks' for a few seconds and warriors grab aggro really fast. To top it off there's some insane high damage aoe/single target for warriors. And they increased the amount of AoE for two-handers which was very lacking.

Every time I watch these quick looks I want to upgrade my PC so bad. My 360 copy of this game isn't cutting it.

Ugh, I haven't finished the game yet so now I cant watch this :(

Just picked it up and started playing yesterday.
For those asking if the price is justified, I cannot fully say yet as I have not finished Awakening, but different people go at different speeds, some might finish it really fast. But I spent about 4 hours playing yesterday and I barely got out of the Keep which is the area you start in.
And yes warriors and rogues got some really good buffs. 2h is now basically a warrior AoE specialist :)
Also there are already very simple to use mods out that allow you to keep the DLC stuff. I do agree however that it is mind boggling why Bioware themselves did not do this, feels just silly.
While I have picked up a couple of gear upgrades here and there, most of my gear is still better then what is available 4 hours in. Also so far I feel like the new party members are quite well done with much more interesting characters then the bunch of daddy issues you gather in ME2.

Man, look at the bugs and the horrible continuity from the original game.  The Mass Effect team did a better job with their releases.  Bioware may put out good products, but they are still very much technically unpolished.  Definitely not paying full price for this.

So ignorant.  DA wasn't even that great of a game.  Both were enjoyable, and they cater to different audiences within the RPG genre.  At least one of them had a better game balance, and no, it wasn't DA. "

Correction:  'Create a New Character' does not carry on the continuation from the first game.  It starts over with some default world state for Awakening.  If you died at the end of Origins, the only way to continue with that world state is to bullshit retcon your character back to life.

I do like me some Dragon Age. But, the one thing I utterly hate about this game is the lack of quality control of the voice actor accents. I'm not even the kind who picks up on stuff like that, but in this case I do and it's pretty darn annoying in places.

You mean Final Fantasy Rail Shooter XIII Space Harrier Orchestra 2? An RPG with literally no decision making and combat consisting of spamming Auto-Battle and Stance (Paradigm) changes for 40 hours? It's more akin to a damn rail shooter then a ROLE PLAYING GAME, which Bioware is owning latley with ME2 and Dragon Age + Awakening. That's not to say FFXIII is a bad game, because it does have its merits; IE. beautiful graphics, great animations, a great story, great music etc. But when it comes down to RPGness, Dragon Age and Awakening are truly epic RPGs. "

The way this expansion is kinda rough and janky around the edges with its story carry over, and its importing and yada yada yada with all the other DLC...solidifies my hatred for Dragon Age.

I am pretty sure the non-crossover DLC is a bug. Awakening is bug-ridder, unfortunately.

More of the Giant Bomb Crew should have given Dragon age a chance, Imo better than Mass Effect.
