Quick Look: Friday the 13th: The Game

As a fan of the Friday franchise and this game, this video was painful to watch/listen to.

It just feels like the game is missing something.

Isn't the Client Side Hosting what made For Honor so difficult to complete a game in for the same reason? WHY are devs still insisting upon it for group games?? They CANNOT be naive enough to think people won't do the same crap seen here.

As for people complaining this "isn't representative of the experience," what should they have done? Only released footage where the game DIDN'T disconnect? This is THEIR experience, that's like complaining that a review points out glitches that you didn't experience.

This has potential. Have to keep an eye on it.

At least the voice chat is entertaining.

If you're a fan of the "Friday the 13th" movies, I can't recommend the documentary "Crystal Lake Memories" enough. It's a great dive into the making of of the movies, clocking in at something like 6 1/2 hours.

Probably the first time someone putting their Twitch profile as their in-game name has been useful rather than obnoxious, here's what happened at the end of that last match.

This game has the potential to be great. When matches don't bug out it is actually really fun. I hope they fix it up.

The shortness of this Quick Look doesn't do the game justice. Had they stuck with it, they would've experienced the same unpolished charm Battlegrounds has. I personally wouldn't spend 50 bucks for a unfinished game, but I watched a lot of streams of this game and some of them have been quick entertaining.

This QL is great.

The part where they get stuck in the cabin and the flamey Jason showing up is giving me Deadly Premonition flashbacks. Game seems to have a lovable jank like that game as well.

Despite of its problems I find this game pretty fun to watch - at least watching my favorite streamers. I think if its given time to better connectivity issues etc., as well as patching in more and more content like maps and characters/mechanics it will do fine.

Genuinely couldnt watch this because of the jerky camera movement. Ben, pls.

I think this quicklook is one of my favorites so far this year. 3 games and 3 different problems. Bethesda levels of jank in this game.

Jason, the one with the therapy camp and the Jason copycat is Part 5: A New Beginning, which is a big ol' turd...but I still love it.

I can count on one hand how many times I've been disconnected after the opening weekend on PC, and i've put 85 hours on this according to Steam.

Also, i would love to watch Jason playing this game

This game is 40 bucks on all platforms, not 60. Although the physical release may be 60 whenever that comes out.

The only problems I've had since after launch week on ps4 have been the players controlling Jason rage quitting, but if they aren't the host it really isn't a problem since the xp comes faster that way.

I wish they liked this game as much as battlegrounds because it can be really fun to watch

Technical hangups aside, this was incredibly entertaining. I about died when Jason walked past the window seconds after the terrified teen ran past.

I didn't notice this until it was mentioned to me, but I hate Ben's mouse movement. It's very erratic.

YouTube comments for this QL are just shitting on Ben and his voice. Glad to see that is not the case here.

I backed this game so I only paid $30 for it luckily, and after the Xbox patch *FINALLY* arrived, I've deleted it anyway. Even if the game works 100%, the best case scenario is that you get to play on one of three very similar maps, with exactly the same set of objectives, and very rarely as Jason, the only fun character to play as.

Clunky game and a clusterfuck how they handle the problems.

Honestly, even with out the bugs. It is not worth more then half the price IF you have friends to play with and mic. Otherwise it is just really bad.

Woof, got to work on those audio levels, I couldn't hear any of the game audio.

Didn't a similar game come out this year with different generic slasher villain knock-offs? Frankly, from what I've seen of that game, it looked much better. But I guess it didn't have an official license, which is something people started caring about with games at some point?

Voice chat is something I avoid at all times as a Brit for reasons I won't go into. Otherwise this game could do well after some bug fixes.

I haven't played it, but from what I've seen from other sources I have to agree. This was somewhat like a worst case scenario quick look. Perhaps GB East with Dan and Vinny could try this later on, but not too late, some games are best when they are hot.

Yeesh, watching Ben play was pretty bad. Is he new to mouse and keyboard gameplay?

This game has something neat going on, but i feel like the general audience will have given up on it before the issues are worked out. As it is right now, it's not very appealing to me. After a few months it might be, but by then there's a new flavor of the week multiplayer game.

This game looks like it could be amazing if it actually worked.

I don't think so, they've said he's played thousands of hours of DOTA 2 (probably why his mouse scroll is always so fast). I think he's just new to playing a game for an audience and keeping the viewer in mind with how he pans the camera around.

If only Jason would have played this. I can't always look at bad gameplay such as this. Would it be me, I would've shot with that gun in his face! Ben though... run away like a girl... argh!

@vierastalo: I had to come back to this video to thank you for introducing me to Wolfie's Just Fine. That song and video were incredibly moving to me. "It's a Job" was almost as good, so I immediately bought the album. A whole bunch of great songs, touching, funny, catchy... just a great album.

And it's crazy that it's all from the "Show me Your Genitals" guy.

Ben and his voice are both totally fine.
