Early to the party
This game very much speaks to my flavors of aesthetics. Mmmmmmmm, beautiful misery. :D
I'm pretty sure the narrator (the one that sounds like Philip Baker Hall) is the same from Valiant Hearts.
That intro music has a real 28 weeks later vibe.
Now is the winter of our discontent?

That intro music has a real 28 weeks later vibe.
Was thinking the exact same thing.
I've been playing this game quite a bit, and I have to say its absolutely brutal. It's an interesting take on the strategy survival building/management simulator if we can call it that. It's got all kinds of ways to go about playing it and talking with a few friends of mine and their experiences with it show that we almost always approach situations completely differently with varying results. The setting is very interesting for a snow-pocalypse kind of idea.

Now I haven´t seen Snowpiercer but I did read the manga Fire Punch, which now every ice-age apocalypse story makes me think about, and Boy was that a thing!

@rottenluck: I was trying desperately to place what that track reminded me of and that was 100% it. Thank you!
Can't wait to play this! I need to move through a couple things quickly before.
One thing is fore sure, 11 Bit Studios are really estabilishing themselves as makers of games with very grim tones and atmospheres

You guys are absolutely right. It immediately caught my attention and what do you know, it's either the same exact thing or damn near close to it (timestamped):
(3:00 into the Quick Look is when Frostpunk's song starts, for reference)

Yep - this looks like a purchase for me.
I don't know about babies to increase population but the process of making a baby sure does create some heat. Have sex, stay warm, no baby, gg

I don't miss you, I miss the misery!
I also feel like this track gets used for a lot of stuff, it certainly sounds very familiar even without having seen the movie.
@flashflood_29: YES!. I know it was something I had heard before.
The intro song ALSO sounds like the theme from Moon (I think it's the same composer on both).
It shouldn't be a big deal, but it bums me out to hear a Down With the Sickness joke get zero recognition. I appreciate you, Alex.
I wish they were able to switch the celsius to fahrenheit at -40...
Thanks for this quick look, really enjoyed it. I think you’ve convinced me to try this game.
Now is the Winter of our discount tent.
I kinda lost it when they started roleplaying as discontented citizens critical of Alex's heating priorities.
How can anyone hate Boogie Nights...
Boogie Nights is my least-favorite PTA movie.
@xarpac: yeah they really could do a whole feature like that for a games playthrough and it would always be hilarious.

Graphically it looks awesome but a little too much menu driven gameplay for me.
Funny, I was getting some Godspeed You! Black Emperor vibes from the song in-game. Come to realize they were featured in the previous movie, 28 Days Later.
Also, Alex forgot to show the sick heatmap feature
This game and 11 bit are fucking great, didn't expect a quicklook so this is awesome to see
@vinny The music sounds like the 28 Days Later theme to me
Vinny saying he'd watch this movie, he should check out the show The Terror. Lots of cold and depressed people in that.
This is great that they did a quick look of this, but it is absolutely criminal that Alex didn't turn on the temperature overlay!
This looks super neat
@hud209: I've been wanting to read that book for the longest time. How's the show turning out?
@merxworx01: I enjoyed it, some great performances and characters.
@hud209: That's really good to hear, I wish it was on Amazon or Netflix though.
Totally sounds like In the House, In a Heartbeat from 28 Days Later.
It's funny that Vinny asked about switching to Fahrenheit when the temperature is at -40c, since switching to Fahrenheit at that particular temperature would be -40 as well.

Well that game looks cool
Seems Alex wasn't aware of the heat overlay, sizable handicap while playing this game, I'd say. Not to mention it's very aesthetically pleasing.. too bad he never showed it. Lol.
My father's name is Frozen Frozen Boy
This game looks very good; especially love the dark and desperate vibe. Great QL Alex, Vinny, and Abby.
So it was John Murphy! He's the composer on a lot of Danny Boyle's films
My favorite John Murphy, which you've no doubt heard in other places
@stcheatum: I knew that music was familiar and I just couldn't place why.
Danny Boyle movies. Duh.
This might be a bit too run based for me.
doesn't really look like my kinda game but I enjoyed the QL regardless. Maybe I'll pick it up in a sale one of these days and be pleasantly surprised.

@hassun: Did you watch the video? I think Alex says this is not a run based game. One playthrough for each scenario and you're done.
They are adding endless mode but yeh right now its kinda 3 scenarios with about 10-20hours worth of playtime in total.
@matsemann08: I did and also the Waypoint review of the game and it appears you are rated at the end of your playthrough based on your actions. The vibe I get from that is that you are encouraged to try again and do better.
Maybe "run based" wasn't the best descriptor but that's what I was getting at.
I really tried getting into This War of Mine, but still didn't end up playing that much, but this is surprisingly addicting! The QL doesn't make it look like it but there's some great replay value here with the different scenarios and it really scatches that "perfect efficiency" OCD itch I'm looking for in management games.
