You might want to track one of these down, the dial on the outside of the analog stick works pretty good as a paddle, it's not perfect but it works better than the stick.

I loves me some old skool QL!  Hearing Jeff connect these games to later classics provides a great sense of context, and gives me a new appreciation for them.
 
BTW, epic fail points for Jeff and Ryan for not realizing that Star Strike is a Star Wars Ep 1V "re-creation" of the Death Star trench run.  Drop the bomb into the red exhaust port that appears from time to time, while Yavin slowly comes into view from behind the big planet on the left.  I'm just sayin'.
