Quick Look: Gran Turismo 5

 
Car damage starts at lvl 20. 
Im not sure of how intensiv it is tho.

I just got this game.  I think it's pretty great, not perfect but the racing is still fun.  This quick look is hilarious though.

Considering all the little details put into this game, you'd think they would remember to have snow being thrown up behind your car in the rearview mirror. It's especially odd since the other cars throw massive amounts of snow up behind them.

So... I guess I gotta go on youtube to see the amazing 'racecar' damage models. Or not. Great QL. Hella funny as per usual.

given how strong Forza 3 opens, with you being put straight in the Audi R8, this quick look is kind of embarrassing.

That has to be the most frustrating user experience I've ever seen. I will never purchase this game. Which is unfortunate.

The first 30 mins are funny as hell.

Holy Hideo! I thought PC games were bad at getting you started and actually in the game, but this is ridiculous.

Call me incredibly slow but it only just dawned on me that this QL is as long as a movie. Damn.

Fuck Gran Turismo 5. This game is so far up its own ass and this I coming from someone who loved 2, 3 and 4. Best quote of the whole quicklook was from Jeff:  "I'm putting the controller down".

LOL, rewatching this due to Forza4/GT5-2.0, hahahaha, this is hilarious, yeah GT5 was seriously janky on launch, but yeah, it's way better now, also I LOVE its JRPG quirkyness, Forza has no soul, Forza4 is way better though.

I heard they're changing the intro with Spec 2.0, hopefully this new intro is as described by Jeff and Ryan!

LOL, rewatching this due to Forza4/GT5-2.0, hahahaha, this is hilarious, yeah GT5 was seriously janky on launch, but yeah, it's way better now, also I LOVE its JRPG quirkyness, Forza has no soul, Forza4 is way better though.

I'm rewatching this because the XL edition is $10 on Thursday. It's been a year since your comment, but what exactly made it way better after launch? Hopefully it's even way more better in November 2012.

The date and time are not set correctly.

The first 10 minutes of this QL are like some kind of weird drug induced dream about racing video games that doesn't actually include any racing. Driver walks to team. Shake team man hand. We have claw hand here. Me and team man stand, other man walks behind and stands with man. Man check watch. Me shake more team man hand and walk with team man. Me look over at team man while walking with team man.

It's like the presentation for this game is like the very first rough draft they ever made 10 years ago. As if nobody ever actually went to the main menu and tried to go to a race during the whole development of the game.

There are SIX (6, VI) separate screen pop ups the first time they get to the my home page at around 13:00. And then they had to quit the game anyways.

I still think about this video and return to it when I need to think about UI and UX design

I kept feeling like that piano theme in the opening was going to turn into the craziest Simpsons couch gag.
