I've never played a Dynasty Warriors, but I actually would like to give this game a shot. Seems like it would be a good rental.

We all appreciate how committed you are to this job after coming in, in the middle of the night, to get the destiny QL working, but no one needs this Hyrule Warriors QL at midnight (or 4am...). Nope. Was on the schedule but was never uploaded on the site because of what I assume is an embargo.

Wasn't there a whole thing about people guessing the URL and viewing it early? So it was uploaded at some point (but never actually "released").

Maybe there was some kind of block put in place due to that which now needs to be removed?

The transcoded files ended up getting deleted from the server. I've set Mr. Video Robot to re-encode from the source file. We should hopefully have video back in about a half-hour. Sit tight, homies!

Also I'm totally with Dan. People have this dumb expectation of Zelda that it has to revolutionize gaming every time it comes out. I like the formula. I don't want Skyrim in my Zelda. The games come out so infrequently it feels fresh enough each time it comes out.

As someone who's never played a Dynasty Warriors-game before, I feel that Dan's 3/5 review score is correct, but I'm so strangely addicted to this game. It's like a dumb popcorn-movie, you know it's bad but it's still kinda fun to turn off your brain and slaughter monsters for a while.

Although right now I'm having some trouble with hard adventure mode-maps, so I suppose there's a bit of challenge to be found too in knowing where to focus your efforts. For example I lost a map while hitting a really tanky monster that I later figured out I just had to leave for the army to kill.

Dan watching Jin-Roh, can't imagine that going well. I mean, it's one of my favorite movies of all time, but it's also very slow and very dense, and I can't imagine it's particularly close to what Dan wants from a movie. A least it's pretty much as far away as you can get from negative stereotypes of anime.

They make enough money by releasing more or less the same game every time with minor tweaks, and the fans seem happy enough with it, so why change? The games are just not for you and me. They've now made a Zelda spin-off, and are doing a Dragon Quest spin-off. They're doing okay at least.

If you feel that way about this one, you might like the others. Or, for slightly different gameplay with a similar feel, the EDF series. They have that kind of B-movie appeal to me as well.

Also thanks for the late night re-upload, @unastrike. Those of us with night jobs (and presumably people outside of the US) salute you.

How could you guys forget about Bayonetta 2? It's like the only reason I'm getting a Wii U. Also I'm pretty sure that Smash is coming out this year. I don't think they actually announced a date for Smash for 3DS until last month, so it's not a stretch that it'll come out in December.

This looks incredibly dull, actually it looks like a podcast game, a dull podcast game.

It's currently suffering from abysmal sales in Japan. Not surprisingly selling a lot worse than when the original came out on multiple platforms.

@humanity: I don't think anybody expected Bayonetta 2 to sell well. It and Wonderful 101 are still the only reasons I'm getting a Wii U.

Even as someone who had played a Warriors game before and kind of ejoyed it, I didn't expect to be as into this game as I got.

There was a ton of small improvements over the other one, in stuff like interface, dash movement speed, giving you a reason to attack the smaller dudes to empty a Keep gauge, a dodge button to avoid certain attacks or cancel moves (instead of a pretty useless jump button) as well as actually having to manage multiple objectives. The focus on managing objectives was the most surprising one to me since I saw glances of this in the other Warriors game yet it was never required and was kind of a missed opportunity.

Another thing I didn't expect was for the Adventure mode to be as demanding as it's been. I still have one character and two weapons to unlock, but to work my way over to them I've had to plan out my route a little so I can gear up my characters or get the items I need. Getting Link's LV.3 Fire Rod, which looked badass, was a big damage upgrade and had two more skill slots than any other weapon I had come across up to that point felt like a real reward, because it was locked behind a tough but doable challenge.

At its worst, when you're fighting bosses against the clock and the boss won't randomly do the attack that leaves it vunerable to counterattack, or you're wailing away at a captain with megatons of health that keeps blocking with no good way of dismantling its defence, then it feels pretty shitty. At the same time this game had a lot of surprising high points for me, and I'm poised to put a lot more time into it than I ever expected.

This looks as expected. I played the demo at store kiosks. While it is still the same repetitive Dynasty Warriors game, the quicker character pace, flashy attacks, and Zelda trappings went a long way for my enjoyment of it.

Still, a game I would rather get at a discount. I do wonder what the future DLC packs will be. They seem interesting.

Looks cool but I don't own a Wii U and probably aint gonna get one anytime soon so I guess I'll just play a normal Warriors game.

Gameplay seems... bad and repetitive.

However I can clearly see the joy in destroying so many enemies at once, and the abilities look pretty cool.

Smash and Bayonetta 2 are my personal favourite wii u releases this year. And the captain toad thing is exciting as well.

I feel like Brad would have liked Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword if he gave them a chance, but oh well!

Also, this game looks like Dynasty Warriors. I doubt I will be buying this, unless I find it for $20 or something. Which won't happen because Nintendo games rarely go down in price.

Edit: Also, I've been of the thought that the Zelda games should have voice acting since Twilight Princess. There used to be technical reasons as to why there wasn't, but nowadays it just feels cheap to not have voice acting in a game that isn't a small-time indie thing.

Edit 2: Is it confirmed that Tingle isn't in this game? If so, then I'm definitely not buying it.

Edit 3: As someone who tried to play A Link to the Past (for the first time) when I was in high school (mid/late 00s), but ended up stopping a few dungeons in because I kept dying repeatedly and wasn't having fun, I would say that it is easy to be critical of it. Part of that was that my SNES controllers (I bought all my SNES stuff used around then) were bad (seriously, they were bad), but I am just not a huge fan of the old top down Zelda games. Not like I am for the 3D ones, at least.

Just my two cents on the matter, I'm sure the game was incredible and everything if you were old enough to play it when it was released. I know I'll defend Twilight Princess as one of my favorite games of all time until the day I die, so I know the feeling.

Please don't attack me for what I said here. I am a mod, after all. ;)

Edit 4: I remember enjoying Phantom Hourglass quite a bit, but I never liked that it was touch screen controls for everything. It was fine for the most part, but movement just wasn't great, mostly because any time Link moved to the left I'd cover about half the screen with my hand, which wasn't ideal. Overall I did like it though.

This game is an abomination. That is all.
