Quick Look: Infamous 2

I was not a big fan of the first infamous.  It was worth a rental.  This second game is improved and I like the user generated content.  It's not enough for me to buy but I'll check out a rent.

Kinda wish they did a concept where if you were evil in the first game you would be evil starting off in the second. Sort of like what The Suffering: Ties that bind had.  
 
 Anywho,loved the demo and just recently finished the first game. Can't wait to play this.. 
 
BTW: are the gigawatt blades back in this?

@abdo: You only need to play through the game twice to get everything. And my Hard Evil playthrough took heaps less time because I had already done all of the side stuff in my Good run.

I made a small shooting mission called Alley Cat. See if you can find it!

Yep, the morality in this game still seems hecka dumb.

and yep, Brad still refuses to acknowledge anything is wrong with the game... at all.

It's probably been mentioned but the blast shards you get from hidden packages, mugging, bomb diffusion, don't count towards the 305 shard total. They're just there for you to upgrade your power cores.

looks like more Infamous. Nothing wrong with that.

Maybe 5-6 hours in. Digging it.

This game was a lot of fun, starts out feeling very similar to Infamous 1 but very quickly sets itself apart with some great new powers.

I will say however that 90% of the user generated levels are just dreadful.

This game's so sweet. 4 of my hours just disappeared last night.

Game looks awful as the first game was.   I don't understand how people find these games fun.   So dumb on every level.    The art direction or lack thereof is just horrible.

It looks just as boring as the first. Climbing the tower in the first was the high point.

User levels seems like a nice idea and the new powers could be fun. But the combat is just so damn boring.

Oh God, did they seriously go from "totally binary power system" to include totally binary characters (including horned devil-like chick and white-robed angel-like one)? that give you quests & powers? 
 
This "morality" system seems worse than the one in Fable. I get the "comic" feel to the game but save  for the ending the branching storyline was barely compelling in the first game. =/

I'm lovingthis game Yes it handles like the first and some mechanics are the same but it has improved apon it on every level, and your save from Infamous 1 does continue on in the second, i had a choice as to which way i wanted to start the game as i had done both karma sides in the first and chose evil for my first play through and it references stuff i did and chocies i made not only from the NPC's but also dead drops and the main characters. 

Those street performers got what's coming to them.

I agree with Patrick. Videogames.

One of my favourite games of the year, and probably my absolute favourite thus far. 5 stars, Brad. You know you want to. 
 
The only problem I have is how clean cut the moralities are from one another. inFAMOUS 2 is less about making choices and more about deciding whether to be good or evil, then rolling on from there with that mind-set. Choosing the alternate path mid-game when you're already invested in one morality feels so weird and completely reverses Cole so much that again, it's pointless to go off the path you've set yourself on.

Ugh Brad, you could have paced this QL better. It was maybe 10% missions, 10% fast traversal and 80% running around talking to Patrick.

But it's good to see that this game is as good as the first. That ice jump especially, might have sold me on it.

The lack of ambient noise was the first thing that struck me about the demo. In parts there was literally no sound except for the tip-tapping of Cole running and it really bothered me. The gameplay is as satisfying as ever, though.

What kind of brain damaged person says "collecting those stupid things is so much fun!". Seriously, what is wrong with you?!

I was so excited for this that I ran right out to buy it. Then I remembered that this is a PS3 exclusive, and my excitement turned to sadness.

What a great game. I saw the Gamespot review, and was reluctant to pick up my preorder of the game, but i did it anyway cuz I wanted to preorder bonus. Man, I'm so glad I picked it up. The guy at gamespot geniunely DID NOT KNOW how to play the game! He simply didn't know that sucking up electricity HEALS you, and I don't think he knew that doing side missions relieves enemy encounters (McShea said something like about "choking enemy encounters", pshh do side missions buddy!). Great game, just a terrible review from Gamespot. I have to be careful from McShea's reviews next time around...

Looks good, but without doing missions I would get bored almost instantly. I'm not sure I wanna play this, maybe when it's really cheap.

So I've played some Prototype, and I've played some Crackdown/2; is Infamous 1/2 far and away the pinnacle of this style of game, or is it merely a little bit better?

loved the first, and i am really enjoying this one aswell, but i hope if they do try for a third SuckerPunch wait for the PS4. the game needs a huge upgrade next time.

I was speaking to the incorporation of vertical space into the gameplay, which the industry has very little of. A few more games less like Call of Duty and more like Assassin's Creed...a bad thing?

GAH! This is why need/want a PS3 so bad! Infamous 1 (and now 2) look so awesome!

Games need to be more like Just Cause 2.  The freedom and speed of movement in that  title is unparalleled in open world games that I've played.
