Wish Drew was better at walking and talking... I mean talking and gaming.

We dont need a full breakdown of the systems before you do anything, we are smart enough to piece it together.

Game looks pretty cool, I could see myself playing it sometime.

This looks fantastic. As someone looking to mix match three into something deeper and RPG ish on my own, especially.

After seeing that in game map is right where I live I looked up the dev. Guildford! Are there any games in the UK not made in Guildford? There must be 10 plus studios there at this point.

I motion that we now change Guildford's name to Game City.

I don't know if it was, but it is a match (or link?) as many as you can match game!

Looks pretty neat actually, I like that the resources have some context behind them as to how you're operating your robit.

I don't mind that description at all. It's fairly accurate and to the point. I also like all of those except for Puzzle Quest, which was almost always bad.

Umm...are you guys talking about Iconoclash? I'm doubtful they'll sort out the rights for it, I heard the pope was being a bit of a bitch about it.

The dragging and linking reminds me a lot of Ten by Eight for the Vita (via Playstation Minis), but with diagonals. That game rules, so maybe this rules too, I dunno

So I got this game after watching the quicklook and holy shit does it have some inconsistent difficulty. It seems like without fail you can get about 4 missions in regardless of the mission difficulty without any trouble at all. Even the hard ones aren't tough, you'll be finishing missions in barely 4 or 5 turns it's so easy.

But around mission five all the enemies start doing easily double the damage they'd previously been doing and they start busting out more missions where you have to sit there and take damage because the objective is not to kill the enemy(i.e. hold out missions or gather supplies missions).

I know it's supposed to be like FTL and maybe it's really luck based or something. But if that's the case I'm getting seriously unlucky because all the stuff I'm finding is absolute garbage in comparison to later enemy equipment. Going from enemies one mission who have average 120 damage weapons literally one mission later(same difficulty) have 250 average damage weapons seems absurd.

It's been quasi-abandoned for a few years now.

Some of this is just knowing about what to prioritize:

  • Upping shields is almost always better than upping drive unless you have a really good drive system. The chance to avoid all damage with the drive is usually not high enough to compensate for the flat damage reduction shields give you.
  • Target enemy shields or drive systems rather than weapons. You can eliminate their shield and do more damage on the same turn, while the opponent will just repair a destroyed weapon and still shoot you.
  • Around mission 2-3 you'll need to start investing in better equipment if you can afford it. That's why on early missions turtling behind your shield is important - you'll be spending less on repairs.

Don't get me wrong, the game can still be frustratingly inconsistent. It's got the FTL thing of needing to get lucky with good equipment early or you're screwed. There's also a lot of small UI issues that drive me nuts. Plus, there's a lot of balance things with the rules that they just kind of whiffed on - like I said above, shields are overwhelmingly better than drives and targeting enemy weapons doesn't really do you any good.

Personally I'd like more communication about the rules the enemy mechs play by - sometimes they'll repair one or two systems and end their turn and then sometimes they repair a system, raise three shield levels and shoot me a few times. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason it - they clearly aren't working off the same board as you are like in other match 3 games, but there isn't a clear rule set about why they do what they do, and that does get frustrating.

I think they just have their own board. So on the turns where they repair and do nothing else, maybe they didn't have much coolant, so it could be that they spent one match getting repair nodes and repairing, then their next two matches were spent getting ammo and/or energy, but not having the coolant to spend it.

However, I agree that it's weird that you can't see any of their values aside from their coolant, and you can't see their board. Most Puzzle Quest style games either have you share the same board, or at least see what your opponent's resources are.
