Great quick look

For people new to the game, I recommend Science mode. Vinny is doing Career mode in the video. In Science mode you still need to take progressively more ambitious flights so that you can unlock the necessary parts with science, but you don't have to worry about the price of anything.

Great quick look. My steam clock says I have played 72 hours of this. Love this game.

I'm off to listen to some public service broadcasting and play some more.

God, I remember loving the first KSP quicklook. Im glad that this is one of the first QL I saw when I came back.

@vinny If you and @alex are interested in doing more with the career mode (which I think is an AWESOME idea), a guy named Scott Manley has been posting a series of short-ish videos that help walk you through the early parts of the career. I played a played a BUNCH of KSP before 1.0, but these videos still taught me a bunch of things that had changed in 1.0 (such as heating and the aerodynamics), had been added (like the ability to warp to maneuver nodes), or had just been beyond my understanding (like making planes).

I highly recommend these to anyone starting KSP or returning from an earlier version.

I can see that moment where the Kerbal got out the rocket on liftoff and was incinerated in the flames I can see making it onto a "Best of Giant Bomb" soon.

Also I would absolutely love a "Vinnco: Space Endeavours" premium series of the career mode. The ending was so beautiful...I can see it now.

Kerbal 1: We're outta fuel...doomed to drift forever...

Kerbal 2: No wait we can send a rescue...they'll come for us.

Kerbal 1: It'll be centuries before anyone can get to us...run the numbers Harry...there's only one way out *straps on jetpack*

Even among the many classic quick looks Giant Bomb has done, this one just might be my new all-time favourite.

I'm at 188 hours according to steam and I'm sure thats lowballing it.

This quicklook is equal parts triumphs (EVA near miss with a spinning spacecraft, getting a stable orbit), disaster (Out of fuel around Kerbin, Mun and Kerbol) and UI nonsense. Very representative of the game which I think tastes like victory with a multitude of small miracles, failures and lessons sprinkled on top. It also reminds me of DOTA but single player with how it's made up of a million little bits of information you collect through playing and failing.

UI hangups are nothing you cannot get used to though and some of it is quite ingenious like the maneuver nodes. I think it might be the best game ever made. And it should come to consoles so the masses can enjoy it like with Minecraft. I use a controller with it on PC which is awesome for docking and landing craft on certain planets and I'm sure they could map a scheme that would work for the whole game if they tried.

@johnnymcginley: Indeed, i'd be super into it if that's something Vinny wants to spin out into more content.

When Vinny lost the ship behind him I almost died. Space is scary.

Man, I have no idea how you could get to the outer planets without actually being a rocket scientist.

There's a mod for that. Pretty much everything in this game that anyone's ever said "that would be cool if..." someone's made a mod for.

By the time 44:30 rolled around, I knew something magical was going to happen. Put this music on to make that segment nail-bitingly stressful.

I like to imagine that somewhere John Carmack is sitting in his underwear playing Kerbel Space Programm all day.

Also fantastic QL guys. I could watch Vinny and Alex in space some more.

This QL got weirdly existential half way through there...

Putting mystery goo in water, sounds exactly...like something Vinny from VinCo would do.

I was starting to think Vinny had gotten too good at the game for it to be as entertaining as when he was bad, but then he started trying to headbutt his spaceship to knock it back into Earth. Never doubt Vinny.
