Quick Look: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

Carbon was good, the idea of gangs of racers controlling territory and fighting by racing was wonderfully absurd.

It's odd to me that racing games all sort of use that same font and gui design.

Waiting for Gran Turismo 5 still.

Got this in the mail today. Have had a go at two races, one as cop and one as racer. Looks great so look forward to try it some more. However, using the R2 button for accelerating is so uncomfortable that i can't find a good way to hold my controller.

This game and "Blur" represent the core difference between EA and Activision partnerships.

this game looks fantastic!  the only thing preventing a purchase is the GLARING lack of local multiplayer.  NFS without splitscreen?  that's blasphemy if you ask me.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I'm not really feeling this game's design!
 
It seems like a step backwards in so many ways... sure, a return to '1990s gameplay' is fun and all, but... it's not really attention grabbing either.  Seems like the kind of game I'd get tired of after a couple of courses, because 'Bump the car in front!  Great you bumped him a few times!  *Hard stop.  Back to bland menu.*' only lasts so long before I start wishing for something a little more immersive.

That was great! Wish I could've seen mor, I was waiting for you to try the rebel against the police lol.

This game looks Effing insane.

The woman doing the voiceover is the same person who did the opening video for Burnout: Revenge.

Woah, more games need to introduce cops v racer/crims modes, that was intense!

Looks interesting, also kinda digging the EA Tracks. 
Might pick this up come Christmas time.

Hot Pursuit 2 was an awesome game. This one looks just as good, though it seems to be essentially Burnout.

Greatest drifting in an arcade racer ever. Autolog is positively addictive. Smooth as butter and pretty as a butterfly graphics with jawdropping weather effects. Tons of cars. So much well designed road to drive on littered with shortcuts. Stunning vistas. Great online multiplayer modes. Great licensed music.
 
The very best racing experience I had in the last couple of years. All fun. No frustration. Endless challenge.

There should be an achievement called "Five Graaand!"

Two words - Best Buy.   Black Friday doorbuster - 34.99.  Also if you have a K-Mart in your area, same price all day next Friday.  That's what I'm waiting for...

The game looks pretty good and I did love Burnout.

I was kinda for some reason thinking... nah. Thank you for the Quick Look. I think I will have to pick this up.

It would be fun, if I could actually select a mode and a car to drive with instead of only being able to pick events from the map in single player. Next to that, the "rapid response" events are boring as hell and they seem to outnumber "hot pursuits" or "interceptor" events which is kind of destroying the fun for me. I want to bust cars, not play time trial as a cop. It's pretty much the same for the "racer" side of the game - "racing" "time trial" and stuff don't even involve any cops chasing you, which makes it... again, boring.  
 
And that's about it for single player, but as said at the start... the inability to pick a random police car of my choosing and play an instant round of "hot pursuit" or "interceptor" or the other way around is the deal breaker here - if there is such an option, I must be blind, but I only see "Free Roam (boring as hell)" and the events on the map. 
 
 Multiplayer on the other hand is fun, but I lack the gazillion of friends who would play this game. Seems like Criterion focused way to much time on this part of the game.

I loved the original Hot pursuit. But I think that a kick ass story thing is really missing here.
