As someone who loves football, I really love all the quicklooks of football games on GB, especially with Danny, glad to see them comeback, I'm hoping for a Fifa 19 one too! They can be really hilarious sometimes but also very fascinating seeing two perspectives of people who are into the sport and who aren't. Great combo.

Also, as someone who enjoys only the single player career mode in Fifa games I never buy them day 1 and I'm usually a year behind. I just recently bought Fifa 18 when it was on sale on PSN for like 12 euros and I'm doing a career managing teams from the lowest tiers (like 3rd german league) and trying to advance them higher/eventually move to the bigger teams if i'm lucky with offers. That way I'm not bothered that the game has outdated squads because I won't manage the biggest teams for several seasons and sadly EA often doesn't add much/anything to career mode/SP modes each year so I don't feel like I'm losing out by not getting the newest installment each year. (this year's, Fifa 19's career mode is virtually unchanged to Fifa 18's for example). PES works the same way sadly, but I'm not surprised really since the majority of money these companies make from these games do come from the multiplayer components.

God, I don't know if it was intentional or not but Danny saying this was the best FOX Engine game of the year and Dan following up with "Isn't this the only FOX Engine game of the year?" is hysterical.

The "weirdness" around the word "soccer" is largely class-based. Football is traditionally a working-class sport, with working-class fans typically calling it "football". Middle and upper-class people would refer to it as "soccer", including newspaper reporters, TV-presenters, etc. who would themselves perhaps not be fans of the sport.

The word is still seen as being non-representative of the sport and its fans, hence its dislike.

Brazilian players usually goes with nicknames. Not everyone, but sometimes it's an affectionate diminutive form of their names. Ronaldinho, Robinho, etc. But Coutinho, for example, it's his real surname. Hulk is a nickname. Pelé too, his name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento.

And I'm the cliche of a Brazilian explaining Brazilian things to other people.

BTW, I'm not sure it's right to say that soccer spun out of rugby. "Football" was a grab-bag term for various different sports that involved getting some kind of ball into some kind of goal, but different places (and especially different schools) had different rules for their own version of football. "Rugby football" was the version of the sport that came out of the English private school based in the town of Rugby, and "association football" (soccer) is the version whose rules were codified by the 'Football Association' in 1863 (based on a version of football known as "Cambridge rules football", after the university). I think "rugby football" was codified before soccer, but they share a common ancestor, rather than one coming out of the other.

No idea why this game is getting absolutely TRASHED on Steam. I played the demo and I liked what I saw. Looks great and seems to run perfectly, too. Maybe this video will clear things up. It is, after all, featuring soccer/football expert Danny. Hype!

I've never had a problem with the licence, it's super easy to get a community patch and get all the real stuff in there. Even on PS4.

I really like Danny's comparison to Fortnite/PUBG. You play PES for the gameplay, it's a lot more realistic than Fifa.

I will say it'd be fun to see them do Fifa 19 since this year there's lots of silly fun options for exhibition matches, stuff like only goals scored with headers count or if your score a goal one of your player gets removed from the game, sorta like a last man standing, so there's a lot of weird, more arcadey options for exhibition matches where they could really fool around.

Add me to the group that considers PES gameplay to be superior to FIFA. I only play quick play for the past few years, and it's still great for that. Criticisms of presentation and modes (master league, a very cool feature for first timers, has been stagnant for a while now) are totally valid though.

It's kinda crazy how much Danny's accent has drifted away with his time living in America. But I will always be happy to hear his lilt until the end of time.

Maybe they bring it up later in the video, but I was shocked that as of 9:38, they don't acknowledge or mention the fact that Domino's Pizza apparently has its own league...?! (see 8:21)

I don't care about soccer at all and I know at least the basics and terms, it's so weird hearing them knowing almost nothing about soccer. Even if you don't follow it yourself you'll hear it from people around you and the news.

My only guess is that games with a hardcore fanbase will nitpick a game for not being perfect.

It's nice to have Danny again, but I was excited for an old fashioned sports Quick Look where nobody knows what's going on.

I love Danny in GB content. It would be great for a Danny, Patrick, and Austin quicklook to happen. They would have a blast coming up with some silly cover story for why they are doing a quicklook for the site. Not like they have anything else going at this time of the year.....

it's wild Dan name dropped Ronaldinho, even in a clumsy way. He really got me to love the game growing up.

@bbalpert: haha yeah, they're just a sponsor, it's the 2nd french division, Domino's Ligue 2, a deal with the first division would be probably too expensive and I doubt the French Football Association would want their top division to share a name with a pizza/restaurant chain so the 1st (top) is just Ligue 1. EDIT: Huh, apparently it's now actually Ligue 1 Conforama, it's a french furniture manufacturer, football is so weird sometimes, but money is money.
