Edit: I know we always make fun of Dan being an idiot but I would have done worse than him as World Geography fucking sucks.

Drew was so keen to show that he could make animated thumbnails, he never paused to think if he should.

Dan's world knowledge manages to astonish once again.

Eastern Europe is my almost complete blindspot in Europe, and I'm from Norway! Fuck if I know where Lithuania is.

I don't know what I expect each time. I come in with zero expectations and still manage to be disappointed by Dan. Wasn't Dan planning on visiting Ireland? Shouldn't he know the basic geography of a place he was going to visit?

This game looks better than the last one there was a QL of... if that's something.

It is a time-honored tradition that Dan will learn about about the various kinds of Ireland during a sports quick look. I love it! And it's amazing how the knowledge doesn't seem to stick.

No judgment here, I am from Eastern Europe, living in Asia now, and I've come to believe Europe is made up of a bunch of small countries that are hard to find on a map, but often take themselves very seriously.

To defend Dan, sometimes people forget that the US is so big that even Americans often have little desire to memorize the geography of their own country and many of us barely leave our own state (love, work, school being the main reasons) as it's a huge deal to travel and there's not much point in terms of experiencing drastically different culture.

Europe has roughly as many countries as we have states but there's also more cultural impetus to experience them, generally. So Americans do tend to think more locally, for some of these reasons. It's also why the concept of a "road trip" is typically American - it's the "F it, I'm out - gonna see some stuff" panic attack we experience.

Generally though, from an early age you just sorta stop caring about borders, cities, states, whatever, unless you have an interest in a specific parts of the world, or where sales tax is lower, or where the school you want to go to is, or where your gf/bf lives, or where your new job is.

I'm not defending ignorance at all, absolutely not, just trying to explain why many Americans suck at world geography and borders. We live in a country full of boring ones. When I used to drive home from school it would be six hours at 70mph/112kph and four states and I barely could tell when I passed from one to the other.

Aaahh that was priceless. 10 min and it was already great.

I'm pretty sure geography was one of the first things to completely drain out of me after school. It just holds no relevance to my actual life.
