I'm not completely sold on this game just yet, but I want to point out a few things.
The iron sights seem more like a joke than anything else. They are only on that one gun from what we saw, and they don't really do anything other than limit your field of view. There is no bullet spread, whether using sights or not, and the zoom effect is very minimal, not worth the decrease in FOV.
The reloading is a slight change, but you had to reload with the revolvers and double barreled shotgun in the original. The rocket launcher didn't seem to have a reload, which gives hope that many of the other guns retain their ability to fire indefinitely as long as you have ammo.
There are 8 empty spaces for guns. The locations suggest that the dual revolver and laser gun will both be returning, as well as a handful of new guns not in the original games.
The last common complaint is sprinting, which is noticeable, but not big enough on its own to make me dislike the game. Besides, strafing was always crucial in SS and you can't strafe while sprinting.

@IkariNoTekken: Apart from the iron sights this game looks really similar to old Serious Sam games. There is a health and armour meter, loads of different weapons at once a lot of crazy enemies running at you at once. It seems like a fairly old style fps.

@imallinson: Its a sequel not some sort of reboot so it won't be completely different, but several new design choices are making me question Croteam's aim for this game.

Sure, it has health and armour but if this game is about running and gunning like the original's why are all the pick ups against walls? Look at all that open space completely bare of pick up items.

Even with my current complaints, I'll probably still buy it with the hope that these changes aren't enough to mess up the game. I put over 100 hours into first & second encounter back in 01/02 and a further 30+ in the HD remakes, so naturally as a fan I'm worried.

Oh, SS, you took the place of Duke in my heart. I wonder do they have the phone booths in this game? Most of the enemies seem the same. It is interesting having a zoom on a weapon other than the sniper rifle. Also, Sam can sprint, what the chuck?

@Kruddman:

I don't get how the visuals are so bad. They look fine.

The game does look fun, though, especially thinking of having 4-player coop.
