Quick Look: Sunset Overdrive

Wow, OK... I am officially sold on this game. For some reason I always thought it was going to be a multiplayer shooter so I have not paid any attention to it.

If MS extended its $350 bundle deal to Canada I'd be buying one this week. But they won't, so I won't. Look forward to it in 12-18 months, though.

Man for a game this seemingly mindless, there sure are a lot of systems and meters and such to keep track of.

This looks like a ton of fun and a good reason why I have the Xbox One.

Ahhh, maybe I'm just tired but all that bouncing around and camera spinning is giving me motion sickness :(

I hadn't cared about this game in the months leading up to release, but this looks pretty fun. The grinding and general movement only really looks slow until there's a bunch of chaos going on around you, which I kind of always assumed but never got to see it in action until now. I was also happy to find that the attitude stuff, while I don't really find any of it funny, isn't nearly as annoying as the marketing made it out to be.

The multiplayer stuff Brad showed on Saturday looked alright, there we at least a couple of modes like 'the floor is lava' and the points collection mode that seemed to take good advantage of the core structure of the game, instead of just being Team Deathmatch. The only thing I'm finding I don't like is the really repetitive, grating, pop-punk music that plays most of the time, but at least that should be easy enough to fix.

I wonder if this game is part of why Fuse was such a piece of shit.

Insomniac was easily one of my top 5 game developers at a time. I loved the Ratchet games and actually enjoyed the Resistance games, despite them being somewhat flawed. After seeing what Fuse became, I kind of lost interest in their games. It's good to see them back to their good form. Shame I won't be able to play this due to its exclusivity though.

I have my White Xbox One bundle pre-ordered and by the looks of this video, i made the right choice. I now have all the consoles, looking forward to diving into some Forza Horizon and this!

I'm definitely interested in a PC version. (PC is my preferred platform.) Hopefully we see a port with in a year.

I've seen enough Destiny coverage to convince myself that I don't care about Destiny all that much. As for Master Chief Collection, I'd love a PC version but I've pretty much given up hope of the Halo series ever showing up on PC again. So a this point, for this holiday season; I'm going to buy an XBox One and the two exclusives I want and don't think will ever get PC ports (Forza Horizon 2 and Master Chief Collection... I think I'll also grab Forza Horizon 1 while I'm at it.)

Is the frame-rate really that rough or is it just the stream? I usually don't care that much, but seriously, it looks Saints Row IV bad.

Regardless, I don't own an XBONE, so it isn't for me. I sort of doubt I'd get it anyway - from what I've seen in the QL, I'd be kind of put off by it's aggressively loud attitude.

Alright this game looks like downright fun. So I should go put that Xbox One I bought to good use.

Was curious about this but also in the dark as it seemed from the promos of trying to hard to be edgy but seems that based off seeing this that it's not that bad. Thanks GB as looks like a good game for the new consoles worth getting.

Also someone who has an extra monster or red bull, give it to Dan to try out now that he's in the big city on the west coast & easier to experiment with foods/drinks.

i think this looks alright. i can only think all the irrational hate it's getting is because it's an xbone exclusive.

Just wondering if Gene Simmons is getting any money out of this. I know he trademarked the image of the bag of money with the $ on it, so anyone who uses it has to pay him, assuming the trademark is still good. Just one of those things that stuck for some reason in the useless trivia part of my brain.

Am I the only one who thinks energy drinks are genuinely fucking delicious? Probably my favorite beverage. Original Red Bull. MMMMmmmm. Fuck, that's good. Blue or green Monster are also amazing. Rockstars are also good. Red Bull is my favorite, though. If I wasn't afraid of them killing me I'd drink them all day.

They taste like shite, I'd take an Orange Crush, Sprite or Mountain Dew a million times over energy drinks that all taste like discarded soda experiments.

I really don't like the mobility in this. You should be way faster in grinding, but its super slow looking which is disappointing. The "humor" also does nothing for me.

I'm seriously addicted to the damned things. I've tried to kick the habit, but I slam two blue Monsters (sugar free) every morning when I start my route (2 for $4, sometimes $3). It's not uncommon for me to grab two more later in the day if it's a long day. I drink between 32oz and 96oz energy drink per day. Every now and then I'll get Red Bull, but that shit is ridiculously priced.

I've been drinking the damned things for years. The habit started when I was still driving long haul. Now, I just can't seem to wake up in the morning. I think the effect is psychosomatic, though. I get nothing from the caffeine at this point.

Screw it. Being a mutant sounds kinda cool.

It looks decent though not really sold on it from what I've seen. Seems a little too mindless.

Maybe it changes the further you get into it, but this looks very stale to me. I think I'd be bored after 30 minutes. I had the same problem with Mordor.

Hey graphics afficianado's I have a question: what gets lost in translation from what Dan and Brad see on screen and what we see in the video? I watched this through the youtube app on my PS3 and 55 inch HD tv and, when Brad and Dan gush over the graphics, I'm not seeing anything that provokes a similar reaction in me. Don't get me wrong, I think it looks good, I'm just wondering what's different between what they see and what I see (for the sake of argument, lets assume I'm watching on a similar TV as them). This is something I've wondered about for awhile, not just with this video.

I like Insomniac, and this looks pretty neat, buuuut I'm not buying an Xbox One... Not yet at least.

Why do people think this will come to pc?

Someone made a mistake in the xbox website was listed as PC & Xbox, they already clarified it was a mistake. Now people don't believe the lies because bashing the xbone is internet's favorite hobby these days.

I've not played it, so I may be too reductive, but it seems like Crackdown 2 with inFamous's grinding and Borderlands's attitude.

I couldn't play more than an hour of Crackdown 2, I need to go back and finish inFamous, and while I really liked Borderlands, it wasn't for the attitude.

There was that typo in the advertisement, which probably means nothing, but it also seems to be something of a pattern with Xbox One games at this point. Two of their biggest exclusives (DR3 and Ryse) made their way to PC, and their big system seller MP game (Titanfall) debuted on both PC and the Xbox One at the same time.

Give me a PC version and the ability to tone down/turn off the auto-aim and that looks like a damn good time.

When I bought my original Xbox in 2003 it came with Jet Set Radio Future and Sega GT 2002. I played the shit out of those games and this game reminds me a whole lot of Jet Set Radio Future except with better graphics and game play. I almost want to get the Xbox One bundle with this game just to reminisce on the 2003 fun I had with my original Xbox.

Punk is all well and good but punk tracks are like a minute or two long for a reason. This game looks great but I think I might get fatigued after an hour or two. Hope there's some contrast, maybe a change of scene at some point. Will wait for reviews.

For all its over the top wackiness, it just looks kinda generic to me. It doesn't seem to do anything that other games haven't done at least as well in the past. I guess that's fine if you're nuts about open world games in general, but as someone who's not, I can't see a reason to want to play this.

Cool another open world game. We don't get many of those.

I used to think this game just looked dumb, but now after this Quick Look I think this game just looks like dumb fun! Maybe it feels better than it looks, control-wise.

Games that are exclusive to either platform always seem to have the most polarizing opinions in the comments :)

ADD: I think Brad and Dan nailed it when they said that coming off of Alien, Evil Within, and Shadow of Mordor, this will be a very welcome change of pace and atmosphere

Xbone really starting to pour it on between games/price drop/system updates. Glad to see that, but probably going to skip this. It actually looks really well done but just not into stuff that seems to handle like Jet Set Radio. May check it out at some point, seems like it deserves a short.

I can't be the only person that thinks this game's plot and characters just seem incredibly insufferable, right?

To me, this might as well scream that is has Poochy the Dog in it.

Have it pre-loaded, my son is on fall break this week, so I totally expect him to blow through it over the next couple of days and offer his opinion on it before I get a chance to play it this weekend.

I enjoyed Infamous: Second Son quite a bit but I did miss the grinding from the previous games so its cool this game has a ton of grinding.

Its kind of crazy to think that this is Microsoft's big fall exclusive since stuff like Halo 5 got delayed, glad this turned out well. Also kind of crazy to consider that despite PS4's lead I think Xbox One has had the better exclusives so far.
