Quick Look: Tesla Effect

I wouldn't know if this is the good kind of bad or not because I'm no hipster, but 7000 members of the mutant league got robbed from a good 95$ game. It's sad when you can't tell which is worse, the acting, the characters, the story, the graphics, the pointing, the clicking or that 7000 people gave away 657 thousand dollars to a video game company that is an "I" and a "N" from being Big Fish Games.

Half of the game is flashbacks to old Tex Murphy. It's as if half the game was just a Tex Murphy museum. People payed for that?

This game is really amazingly good, I am loving it. It is EXACTLY what people wanted and backed, a real Tex Murphy game, not a "reimagining" or a "modernization." It's the same gameplay and style I loved when I played Under a Killing Moon on DOS, and it makes me so happy to see it return.

First Kickstarter to really nail it, as far as I am concerned.

I think it's both great and really weird that this exist. Mostly great though. I want to see FMV games come back big time.

The whole "Tangibles" part with the hologram was like a very cleverly crafted joke on people getting up in arms about everything in gaming these days.

@dazzhardy: You can just jump in and start playing. There might be references to past cases, but each Tex Murphy game are like their own episodes. So what I am trying to say is just play it even thou you have not played previous ones.

Never been a fan of these old school adventure games but I'm glad this turned out so well for the fans.

This game is amazing. I am glad there is quicklook of this. I just love the Tex Murphy character and the setting of these games. I hope this is big enough success for them so we could get sequel too!

Fun fact: Kevin Murphy is not, in fact, the original Tom Servo. J. Elvis Weinstein voiced him in season 1, then Kevin Murphy took over for the rest of the show.

Just did some browsing on this game's listing over at IMDB.com, and while I didn't see any mention of James Earl Jones, it also didn't list Barry Corbin (the guy from the flashback who was Famous Character Actor in 'WarGames' and 'Northern Exposure'), so that means nothing.

I did notice that there is a character named Big Jim Slade in this game, but it sadly doesn't look to be the REAL Big Jim Slade:

Same here, 'till I saw the first proper video teaser for this and got somewhat confused, then did some wiki research.

Looks like great fun, especially for the fans.

I never played a Tex Murphy game, but this does look pretty great. This game is definitely on my radar now to pick up in the future.

This guy looks like an older Scott Aukermann. I think he would fit the role if they ever decided to reyounginize the characters.

The James Earl Jones audio at the beginning is just sampled from Under A Killing Moon which he was in. That's it.

This was a little maddening to watch having already played the first day of the game myself (how do you leave a conversation in an adventure game without clicking on all of the options??? and Vinny's inability to read would've been frustrating if it weren't so funny). I was a huge fan of these games back in the day, and the current game is both a great reminder of how enjoyable they were, and also a reminder of how games have improved since then. So far Tesla Effect is like seeing a close friend that you'd lost touch with for many years--you remember why you were friends, and you also remember why you let the relationship lapse.

I'm surprised it took a quote from the MST3K movie for Jeff to recognize Tom Servo's voice.
