@rcath: Yeah, looks like they need more work on their level generation algorithm to avoid situations like the one here (unless Alex was just missing something). An important part of procedural level generation is making sure that the level is solvable.

Does anyone feel like GBEast took over all the "weird" content and GBWest gets stuck doing all the stuffy AAA-stuff? I mean, I know Dan and Drew get their weird on with adventure games sometimes, and I know Vinny is *a fucking natural* at the weird stuff, but still, I just miss Jeff doing weird. Am I reading into it too much?

@hoboknight: The first run I had pre-quick look didn't feature any weird level geometry I couldn't navigate, or at least I had enough of the required items to get past them. I made it a solid hour and a half without any problems. That said, the game does seem a little buggy in places, so it wouldn't surprise me if there were some quirks with the level generation stuff in there.

I'll actually probably pick this up in the future. Really digging the look, style and premise.

EDIT: Alex mentioned that the game feels "not fully baked" -- that's because the game is, according to the Steam Store, currently in Beta 0.5.

I like how upbeat Alex and Vinny both are about a game that from here looks like a bit of a turd. After all, positivity is good for both mental and physical health.

I'm glad these types of games exist for those that enjoy them.

I feel like I have my life time dosage of 'these' games - to the point that I would not play this even if it was free. This would not even be here if it did not have a deer as playable character.

@alex: I noticed that was actually a common complaint in the Steam reviews. It seems like levels sometimes just don't work/generate properly.

This seems to take a lot of concepts of Tokyo Jungle to the point to me this just looks like Pixel Tokyo Jungle if they just padded out one animal and gave it puzzles

The long stretches of nothing but easy platforming do not need to exist. This seems like it would benefit a lot more from being a tight adventure. Randomly generated pixel art game are this generations world war two shooters.

How is this a GBEAST quick look if they're not talking about Filter?

I think I'll give up reading the comments. 90% have nothing to do with the game. Most are about who did the quick look or quoting sentences from the quick look. Maybe it's because I'm British but, I don't feel the need to repeat what someone else has just said.

And rewarding the destruction of predators as a good karmic event is the exact kind of human projected reasoning that kills the premise of this game a little bit for me. Predators are vital.

Aside from "pixels", none of those game looks remotely like "Deer God". You may as well say "OMG 1886: The Order and Assassin's Creed: Unity LOOK EXACTLY ALIKE because they both feature life-like 3D models in a period-specific game setting!"

I don't even like this song, but XTC are a fantastic band.
