It'll sadly fall between the cracks for now but I'll probably pick it up somewhere down the line.

I actually really loved the first Evil Within, warts and all. It certainly has it’s technical issues but it sure as shit made up for it with its bonkers ass atmosphere and trippy segments. Definitely gonna pick this one up.

I PAUSED THIS QL TO SAY THAT THERE IS A GREAT MOVIE from 2015 CALLED

"Digging up the Marrow," which describes "the marrow" as the link between normal and monster world where monsters go to live. It is a pseudo documentary style and it stars Ray Freakin Wise

I have to go back and finish the first game before I play this one. I remember really liking the first one, but I fell off for some reason or other. Might just set it to easy mode (if that's an option) and run through it once to prime for this one. Evil Within 2 is definitely going on my PSN wishlist, where I TOTALLY won't forget about it for the next 6-12 months.

EDIT: Just started the QL. The one guy says "How do you get to city hall?" and I have to pause and Google because I SWEAR that's an old joke right? Turns out is Carnegie Hall.

Oh, the punchline was "practice, practice, practice." Didn't want to leave you hanging on that one.

Brad blaming Sony for Bethesda shipping two games this year without Pro support is silly. As much as it sucks for Pro owners, it's not a platform holder's place to force a publisher to delay its game, especially one that's launching in the holiday season. If he's counting on Microsoft forcing every developer to ensure XOX support for games at launch, he might want to remember that they have even less market power to enforce that kind of strict edict than Sony does.

I'm at about chapter 6 so far and while i'm enjoying it I still prefer the first game. This one just doesnt seem to have as much variety and it also moves a lot slower. It's definitely more polished though.

Is there anyway to block the "suggested video" thing that pops up at the top of the video window?

Select HTML5 or Progressive instead of YouTube before the video starts.

Edit: actually I misread your question so I'm not sure if that will fix your problem sorry. Not using youtube might still solve it though.

Apparently they have their gamma set to "triple what is possible maximum" and Ben for some reason avoids using the flash light. He probably thinks it'll alert enemies. (It might... if you get super close. Use it!)

If you haven't played the first yet, I'd recommend it. Game has a couple rough spots but I found the experience as a whole very memorable. Too bad it got caught up in a lot of hyperbolic negativity but I'm very excited to see it got a sequel. Will be playing this asap.

Didn't Sony themselves say that games released after October 2016 would include "mandatory" PS4 Pro support? They dug their own hole.

@xbob42: No. They never mandated PS4 Pro enhancement other than requiring a minimum 1080p resolution.

'Following PS4 Pro’s launch on November 10 in North America, virtually all new PS4 game releases moving forward will be able to take advantage of PS4 Pro capabilities on day one, or in some cases shortly after launch via a downloadable update.'

There are some things about The Evil Within series that looks really cool to me -- specifically, the bosses and some enemies are *awesomely* creepy-cool in a very Silent Hill sort of way -- but there are some aspects that are VERY 1990s-Japanese-Developer-Trying-To-Imagine-What-America-is -Like-Without-Having-First-Hand-Knowledge.

Things like the city in the first game being called..."Krimson City", the game depicting modern-day nurses as wearing uniforms that no one has worn since 1948, the eeeeeeevil villain monologuing in a Germanic or Slavic accent while cackling to himself like a Victor-Frankenstein-esque mad scientist...all these things are super cringe-y in a setting I really want to like.

All of these things are the reasons I LOVE this series' aesthetic... They're going for a thing. It's supposed to be noir-y and is totally like this on purpose. There is no cultural disconnect, they've purposely made it look this way. And it's fine if it doesn't click for you, its not for everyone.

Flashlight does not alert enemies. It's unfortunate that Ben was unaware and the quicklook suffered for it. This game is pretty great so far though. I hope it does well.

This looks cool. I was intrigued by the first one, but chose not to pick it up because of how many negative things people had to say. Might actually scoop this one though.

Also, Leon had some pretty bad one liners too, so I wonder if it's fair to attribute that to a design choice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvTxyUDkoYU.

Is this a game where I can shoot a zombie in the knee to stagger them and then perform a melee attack, @benpack?

I'm not sure why Ben is driving the Quick Look since he didn't play the first game. Granted Brad doesn't remember anything from it, and I guess after being on GB all these years it's silly of me to assume he might dig it out of the closest and pop it in for 10 minutes prior to recording just to get a baseline for how far the sequel improves or doesn't, but it still seems better to have had Brad be playing this.

Not a huge deal, just weird in my opinion. I suppose Brad was too busy playing Shadow of War and they just dumped this on Ben, since Ben has become the bedrock of all Quick Looks these days.

@ravelle: He actually does! I didn't think about it, but there's a couple of scenes late in the game where I thought 'if they made this a movie, Keanu Reeves could play Sebastian.'

I'm into how much better the gameplay looks but man, that is some rough voice acting. I can basically hear the main character prep himself to push his fake voice out at the start of every sentence.

The fact that this game hasn't got massive letterboxing the first one had immediately makes it markedly better in my opinion.

@optimalpower: You'll actually get more out of some of two's sequences if you've played the first.
