Quick Look: The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing

@galloughs: It's just you? I could hear it just fine.

The progressive HD version of this video seems to have issues, it stutters and repeats every few seconds, to the point that by 1:50 there's a 30 second difference between it and the youtube version (they get into the game part by 1:20 on youtube).

I'm really happy of this quicklook. Glad I am not the only one that thinks positive about the game. I play range & kite & let katrina tank. I'm not very far in but miss ghost dies a lot :/. ^^;

That's what I was hoping this was. Not even Kingdoms of Amalur, that has tons of loot. But a nice RPG with a good combat system. This does not seem like that. Looks pretty, at least.

Thanks for this quick look guys. I only briefly looked at the screenshots on Steam and I thought this was more a Witcher style RPG and dismissed it; had no idea it was a loot driven hack n' slash. Seems pretty neat, I might pick this up as I haven't played one of these in a while (skipped Diablo 3 after having many issues with demo).

I need to play some Torchlight II after watching this, I need loot!

I bought this game because of this quicklook and so far I am liking it better than I did Diablo III or Torchlight II. Highly recommended guys!

I'd heard about this game when it first came out, but the preview trailers and such made it look really janky and unpolished.

This Quick Look makes it look anything but janky and unpolished, so I'll probably pick it up next time it's on sale. I'm kinda tired of Diablo-likes in general, but given that it's probably both shorter and more fun than D3, that's still okay.

Not a huge fan of loot based RPG's, but this looks really good!

That crit perk was probably the second worst next to the rage one, imo.

This looks like... actually not as shitty as I thought it would be and maybe is a pretty decent game. I just have been Diablo'd out since Diablo 2.

Kinda sad that a crappy licensed diablo clone has better loot/characters/areas in 43 minutes than Diablo 3 did from start to finish.

Even if my NAT seems open friends keep dropping out and I have to restart the whole .exe for them to be able to connect again. And this is only if I'm hosting, if someone else is other issues rise. Annoying, I JUST WANT TO PLAY. :(

I will purchase this... at next sale skint :(

• there are multiple towns
• while there are only 30 levels, the leveling gets progressively slower as it does in most games of this type, so it's quite a decent length
• the trees are melee and ranged; magic skills are spread out amongst them
• it gets into more and more mechanical and steampunky stuff as it goes on
• extra inventory page is super usefull
• Katarina can be set to pickup items of a certain threshold
• difficulty ramps up in the middle (but can come back down at the end if specced geared well)
• Van Helsing movie is dumb, it's also friggin great!

was vinny intentionally not using his rage at some point? or was that classic quicklook short term memory disorder?

Got this during the Steam sale. The devs said they are going to patch in controller support, so I'm waiting till then to boot it up. I prefer to lean back and enjoy my Diablo-esque games.

So glad you mentioned the music sounding like Sherlock Holmes, that's exactly what I was thinking.

@wampa1: It's still in alpha (I am a Kickstarter backer) but keep an eye on Grim Dawn. Made by the guys who did Titan Quest, but it's got a much darker and more steampunk atmosphere.
