Oh god, I knew it sounded REALLY familiar. It's a bit more upbeat though, but the guy definitely sounds similar.

I'll take an easy game that tries something different and dares to be weird over another soulless boilerplate cover shooter any day.

The puzzles seem incredibly boring. Having to do the swap to get the square block up was bad enough with just two of them but with three blocks it was almost unbearable to watch.

Not enough here to grab me, but the visual design is pretty darn slick.

I thought games like Super Meat Boy, N+ and VVVVVV were boring at first, but puzzle games have a way of becoming more complex very quickly and justifying their initial tedium (a.k.a. tutorials).

This looks so boring. Why not just get to the meat of it, why would you force the player to do 5 minutes of block swapping jumping, that's not a puzzle as much a way to stretch the game out. There is a reason Portal was good, and it wasn't because you had to take all the time in the world just to walk to an exit mindlessly, it was because in almost every instance it was all laid out for you waiting to solve it. This is another instance, for me, where indie games are considered good or interesting because they're indie.

I'm sure it gets more complicated, at least I hope so, but it still looks SO BORING.

@CrazyBagMan: I do not have enough limbs and appendages on my body to count the amount of times I've read "God, these comments suck, why do I read them, they should just get rid of the comments" because of some long extended argument caused by someone either responding to, or pre-empting, obviously incoming critical remarks.

A couple people walk in, bitch about Patrick or whine about something they always whine about, and then inevitably you get a million brown nosers who feel the need to drag it into something it doesn't deserve to be. If the side that hates the bitching doesn't want to read thread pages of senseless arguments then they shouldn't provoke or be reactive to them. This. Botanicula was a game that was super easy, and yet really enjoyable.

Although, I do agree that from this QL, it seems like the gameplay would get rather tedious. I would get tired of lugging the little guy around everywhere. That part with the steps just seemed like it would be annoying.

Looks like a nice chill sorta puzzle game.

I like QLs of games I'd never look at my self.

What does that have to do with anything? Games don't have to be indie to be different to the horde of cover based crap, so I don't see the point in that statement here. I'd rather play Gears of War than this shit and I don't even like Gears of War. It's shit.

Reminds me of the whale scene from Hitchhiker's Guide. May pick this up, love the lighting.

@SmilingPig: Everything about your post is accurate. Call of Honor: Black Gears is also boring as shit, but a game where shapes jump with simplistic puzzles isn't good either. Basically most indie and mainstream games are shit, which makes me sad inside.

I love me some Lost Vikings or "Maya the Bee & Her Friends" for GBC... but from what they showed, this game just looks tedious.

And all the fading to white is fucking obnoxious.

This game was definitely made by a graphic designer. Some smooth ass fonts going on there.

Hm. Seems like this could have benefited from Patrick getting a bit farther in the game and having more complex puzzles to showcase before doing the quicklook. Mostly all I'm seeing here is swap swap make some stairs swap swap and a kind of nice concept, which doesn't really convince me of anything.

Do like the soundtrack though. Would love to have that as background music while I'm writing essays or something.

This Friday has been a day of weeeeeird games getting Quick Looks...not that I'm complaining :)
 
I like a lot of the trappings of this game, but the "stacking different sized dudes in different configurations over and over" seems like it could get repetitive very quickly. Maybe the challenge ramps up and/or they introduce new mechanics, who knows?

Thomas Was Alone is so indie it isn't even on Giant Bomb! Probably is now (yep I checked it is), but not when the put up the video.

Is this game narrated by Danny Wallace? Really like the look of this, the humour is very Douglas Adams-esque.

Game and music look great, will be picking this one up.

This looks so pretentious that I just can't condone it. Especially since the gameplay itself doesn't seem to be anywhere near Braid-quality. Pretty clear pass.

Wow, 5 minutes in and I'm completely sold on the presentation at least, not sure if the continuos stacking will hold up throughout the game but I'm very willing to find that out first hand.
