Quick Look: Velvet Assassin

Thought there was gonna be a review. Oh well.

You holster guns like that (grip pointed up) because it's easier to pull out when you're pulling it out. You don't have to stick your fingers between grip and skin, which is slow and could snag on something.

Complete tangent: I feel the need to express my amusement with the Ryan Davis peanut gallery shouts that I've started to notice in just about every video segment he is not technically in.

This doesn't look frustrating at all...

I dreamt that Brad called me on the phone just to say hi the other day, he was hanging out with all the guys except Vinny for some reason. I was bummed out because I wanted to say hi to Vinny, I told Brad to say hi for me. It truly was a strange dream.

The game is set so that Violet is retelling the missions from her hospital bed. So basically the whole thing is taking place in her head. The morphine is something shes taking in the current time, which induces the fever dream like state which allows her direct control over her story. She appears in her hospital gown to kind of emphasize that this isnt really "how it happened."

Its a neat unexpected way of introducing this type of mechanic.

Compared to modern stealth games, this seems just so linear and set on a path. The moment you leave it, you die.

You didn't even TRY to shoot the oil to light those dudes on fire!  Jeff would never let that happen.  Anyway, I don't understand why this game was made.

Syphon filter on ps1 has light breaking mechanics...

The LED on my bluetooth headset lights up the entire room if it's dark, but in stealth games a bright lamp only lights up in a 2 feet radious, after that it's pitch black it's just stupid. If the real world was like that, I would never see more than 30 % of my living room considering I only have one lamp.

this game looks horrible and the gameplay looks just as bad if you want a stealth like game go rent the Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena

Looks really linear repetitive and frustrating, I'll pass.

I dunno, I think it looks interesting, except if you can't save in the middle of a mission that would be pretty painful.  Cept it apparently has save points :P

What I liked about Thief was the multiple ways to beat the level, and the ability to recover from slip-ups without the level being completely trashed, though, so I'm not sure this looks nearly as friendly.

When the guards were alerted it seems as if Brad was on the losing end of a slow motion quicktime event...Brad dude...drink a pop or eat an energy bar.

Do you gentlemen change platforms from game to game? I wasn't to impressed with this game on my PC and agree with Brad's assesment that this has a very simple game mechanic and harkens back to the first Splitercell but visually speaking at least on PC it looks so much better. Alas decent visuals and somewhat adequate port to PC thats about all this game has going for it. I have to agree with notsonics remark about the unique storyline elements, a bit refreshing imo.

Brad needs a cookie before every QL from now on.

I'm sorry to hear the negative attitude, I really liked the general look and feel of this game. But if it's as frustrating as shown here I'm disappointed.

Yea looks like a unrefined splinter cell game set in WW2, not interested.

Before the game even starts you already have mocked it. Try again next time guys.

This looks like a good stealth game. Half the fun in games like this is sneaking around and listening to the enemies' conversations. Watching Brad repeat the exact same mistakes on the exact same enemies sells the game short and ruined the Quick Look.
