I was all set to post: "I've heard of Vib-Ribbon to death and still have no idea why people adore it. But then again all rhythm games kind of suck."

Then I watched through the tutorial and now I'm posting: "This is really charming. The simplicity of it really helps it, I think. This might just be a rhythm game I'd actually enjoy."

I can see why the guys are into this game, but it's not for me. Guess you just had to be there...

I missed this game, because I was 8 and privy to importing games. I can say this looks (and sounds) dope as fuck.

I'm in a band and musicians use CDs all the time because a lot of mixers burn CDs, etc. So using "music discs" would be rad.

I never played this when it was out, but I always knew about the great soundtrack. I picked it up and am enjoying it quite a bit.

Man, I had totally forgotten about this game! I think I played it a few times, but I can't really remember when... I must have been about 10 years old when this game came out in Italy. It's hard to forget the whole Angel/Rabbit/Snake/Worm thing. Crazy to think this was never released in the U.S. until now.

video latency should not be a problem in rhythm games. just play to the audio and use the video as a cue

Second song has always been the best song in Vib Ribbon. Super duper love this game.

The songs in this video are like a half a second shorter than in the original. Maybe it's some emulator weirdness.

I would play this game purely for it's soundtrack. The only way this game could possibly come to the PS4 is PSNow and I imagine that would be a disaster with any sort of input delay.

Is this considered a rhythm game? Because a lot of the button presses are completely outside of the rhythm of the song.

They will probably add PS1 Classic support to the PS4.

Cool they released this, but I agree with Jeff. A remake with mp3 support is the way to go if they decide to do anything else with Vib Ribbon.

To answer your question Jeff, not that you asked me, yes. Vib-Ribbon is still an enjoyable game that newcomers would find appealing and they should get something out of it, even if they have never seen or heard of it.. Never even knew what this game was until Patrick said something about it at E3 when Sony teased it. I then never saw anything until you guys posted this quick look. And watching you guys made me want to try it. And I bought it, and it is fantastic. The music is very enjoyable and Vibri is absolutely adorable. Failing and seeing her cry or get angry only pushed me to be better and make it through. I am sad this wasnt released in America sooner.

So yes, I would say re-releasing this game breathed some new life into it. And I feel if you have not played it, even if using your own music doesnt appeal to you, the six tracks are phenomenal and the gameplay while seemingly simple requires good timing and recognition of the shapes and combinations. Its a joy through and through.

The Chemical Brothers "Out of Control" generates a fun, varied level. Its really inconsistent as to whether a song produces a fun level, but when it does its magic.
