One more for the that was unpleasant to listen to. Cutting off Dans mike for a goof is ok, I feel like, since they can still be heard though the next mike over. Muting that one as well so they're actually cut off is bad form. And I don't know if the way the crew shoot down his opinions and questions has become more upsetting or if I've just grown tired of it but either way it's unpleasant to listen to. Far more so than the stupid questions themselves.

Ok, i got a question about 1:20:09. Abby runs out of bullets with the TMP and so she equips the Striker which also has no bullets. And yet, the gun is magically loaded when she leaves the briefcase screen? Did I miss something?

@elliotcm: totally disagree. Dan actually made that video fun... playing coop with friends is supposed to be goofy. Vinny joined in as well. Abby and Alex were the ones who were annoyed at Dan screwing around even the slightest bit. As far as Dan not letting the team "get things done.." yeah, I get GTAO can be annoying and maybe they just wanted to get the video done with, but Dan wasnt the one who blew himself up and forced them to have to replay the entire mission. Actually, has Dan died at all the entire series? He's generally not the one who messes up and forces replays. He just runs into another players car to have some fun and Alex/Abby freak out.

Your argument is "Dan likes to have fun playing games, so he shouldnt ever be defended."

Yes, Jeff and Brad were arguably worse from Day 1 than anyone here but Drew was always patient. I get that it gets frustrating sometimes but come on..

@porpoiseproblem: Yeah they need to play less dull "fave" games that would help. This is only really fun when they're commenting on the weird cutscenes. More FMV games is a good one.

Dan brings up QTE's in games yet forgets to mention the end of MGS 4. I feel like they should make a feature out of Abby playing RE game's and go back to the random game playdate's. And it should be with Alex and Vinny only (I love Dan and Jeff but damn that started to get irritating) since there the ones paying attention to the game.

Vinny is the best person ever and muting Dan was great but he was being a dick about the Google thing. Chat is trying to troll you every possible chance, I don’t know why you’d listen to us.

I can't believe the people in here so offended at the crew for jumping on Dan. I guarantee you they don't even take it as seriously as yall and even Dan does this expecting to be jumped on because he likes to troll. Some of y'all acting like Dan is just an inquisitive child instead of a thirty something.

Also, he totally deserves it lol. My favorite thing is Dan being a moron and then everyone jumping on him while he just laughs like a psycho. It's great.

On the last episode of this series, I critiqued the crew a bit for being too distracted from the game. It really bothered me, and this episode is...ehh...it's an improvement, I will say. But when you have Abby getting game over on the same trap three times in a row because she's distracted by an off-topic conversation, then yes, I find myself frustrated once again.

The dynamic with Dan has been interesting to read in the comments. I totally understand why some people are uncomfortable, but I also feel like the crew is largely a family and they know each others limits. So I don't think any of them -- especially Dan -- are too bothered when the cameras go off. It's in good fun, it seems to me. That's just my opinion.

Based on the overall feedback on this series, it might be best for the crew to do something that doesn't take as many episodes to complete. Despite most of the cast in this playdate loving this game, they can't seem to talk about it for very long before getting distracted. I just don't think RE4 is boring or uninteresting enough to warrant that.

Nonetheless, I love GB, and I'm always happy to tune in.

People are being way too serious with their reactions to the rest of the crew reacting to Dan.

I’m fine with them muting Dan for saying funny but offbeat shit if they also mute Alex every time he tells a joke that requires encyclopedic knowledge of wrestling and ‘80s movies to understand.

Dan not realizing that Vinny's woodworking stuff was his hobby and not some chore he's forced to do is amazing.

People seem upset with how the crew handles Dan, even though Dan himself seems to have 0 problems with it and sees it all in good faith. If Dan got annoyed with it, sure, i could see it, but he seems totally fine with it, so why get upset for him if he doesn't mind?

They call Dan dumb, but no-one had the insight that if silica gel was toxic, the bags would carry a more stern warning than "do not eat".

it's all part of the show and the banter.

Dan plays the naive heel well. It's not an "act" per se - but he is an 'out-of-the-box' thinker that can generate entertaining discussion with unconventional comments or prompts.

You can see it in his eyes; every time he asks a strange question - he knows the response it will likely get. The rest of the team are simply playing their roles as well.

Yeah, I doubt anyone on the team is reading these comments 2 days later but I'll add my voice to those who felt uncomfortable here. Major props to Abby for lightening it at the end. It really struck me on the podcast that Vinny mentioned the previous day's stream got loud then everyone went back to saying how loud Dan was (though, to be fair to Abby again, she also mentioned Alex). But the truth was that EVERYONE bar Abby was yelling about stuff not related to the game at some point. The vibe was weird here and it's not the first time recently the room has unnecessarily piled on Dan. When he left to get everyone drinks (you know, being civil and kind) and they all had a "Phew!" moment behind his back on a stream lots of people will watch, that was just some bully shit. Bakalar's dry, sardonic persona came off really badly in that context. By the time they got to Vinny attacking Alex for wanting to Google something (huh?), it just felt like everyone needed a breather. They're all good folks, I'm sure it was just an off day, but maybe the team needs to discuss this before the next one and they can all dial it back a bit.

@game_and_art: I mean, how many of us when we played this game only did so once a week for a couple of hours? These comments come up all the time in weekly features because people forget the team doesn't get the experience of settling into a game. See also: X-Com, Mass Effect... Not to mention the fact that the Playdates have a bunch of dsitracting chat around the game you don't get as much of in the more focused features. She's making progress, so the game isn't stopping her from playing that way, so she plays that way.

im with vinny fuck googling that's too serious. just sort it out and relaaaaax. it was so much more fun having them figuring it out themselves, such a payoff, and god bless abby.

Temple Of Doom was the worst Indiana Jones film for the longest time. Also, I’m pretty sure the Mt.Saint Helens eruption was in 1980. I want to say May. At least Dan was only a few years off.

Oh, Dan... I’m glad Abby and Vinny keep him in check. Also, I can’t believe he has enough money to afford an house near NYC that can fit a gym. Even modest homes in a remotely desirable area are ridiculously expensive these days. My Mother worked as a special education teacher for 40 years and my father worked as a high ranking U.S. Customs official for even longer and we still can’t afford a home even with me pitching in my paychecks too.

However, to clarify we did have a home in the 90’s, but my father was mentally ill and put on the wrong medicine. He might have secretly taken out all our savings and maxed out 12 high interest credit cards (at 25% interest each!) and invested the money in the stock market on the eve of a crash without telling my mother and me. Overall, he lost $170,000 in the crash, $70,000 of that was the savings and $100,000 was from the high interest credit cards. We tried to ask for help from my multimillionaire aunt and uncle in the form of a $50,000 loan from each of them and let’s just say they are particularly bad people. They just insulted my mother and decided never to speak to us ever again and keep us out of sight and out of mind instead. My mother begged them to at least do it for their godchildren, so we wouldn’t have to lose our home and suffer... they just laughed at us. They are both crazy rich too. My uncle is the CLO or higher of Budweiser international. I’m not joking. His name is John Blood so you can look it up if you want to. They had a very negative influence on me and my sister’s development and confidence to say the least. My father may have relentlessly abused us too. So that didn’t help either. But there is something obviously lacking in my two youngest aunt’s and uncle’s character. Anyway it is 19 years later and we are still paying the interest off. So my family may have a little more hardship’s than most normal families and that may factor into why we can’t afford a home too. But it is mostly from the skyrocketing cost of decent housing. Pretty soon it is going to be so expensive that working and middle class families are going to just never be able to afford a house unless they already inherited one. It worked in the ‘50s when you could buy a decent home for $10,000, but Capitalism is going to fail if the cost of living keeps rising as salaries stagnate! I’m sorry that I went off on a tangent there, but it’s been a lot of suffering since then... My point is That Dan can afford a good house that can even fit a gym!?... Good for him.

A lot of tension in this episode. I wonder if it could be caused by an Shenmue 2 endurance run?? One can wish.

Still I enjoyed the episode, it's been fun, as I've never played this myself.

It's very kind of people to express concern for the crew on here but I'm sure Dan or anyone else would make it clear if any of the banter got too much (probably off camera). This comment section is a bit... dramatic.

Anyway, as someone who's never played RE4, this game is wild.

This reminded me of the Sarek episode of Star Trek TNG.

Spock's dad, Sarek, has Bendii Syndrome which causes him and others in proximity to lose control of their emotions.

Basically, Vinny needs to mind meld with Dan before everyone in the office kills each other.

The first time Abby died on the QTE at the end of the minecart sequence was because she was mashing the A button when the game said to mash the X button. You can tell because as soon as she fails the QTE, she instantly selects Continue: Yes, which is a prompt that can only be selected by a press of the A button, and she was still mashing at that point.

@savage: That is a bug in ports of the game. Once it happened to her, I remember getting it when I played the 360 port. It's super weird but you have to start mashing before the prompt comes up.

Beyond that, Dan is a grown man who is just happy living in blissful ignorance and that really bugs me that people think that's a good thing. Sure Dan does come up with content for the sure but when he is in it and not monitored, that content gets annoying real quick.
