The GB crew make me feel like I'm the only one that isn't bothered that the 'characters' in the Forza Horizon games, the ones organizing a massive (now year round) car festival are a bit enthusiastic about cars. Hell, I actually liked the guy talking you though the stunt driver events.

Re: the game documentaries question: I would love to see a documentary on how Chrono Cross got made. I have never seen a piece of media that had so many utterly baffling and counterintuitive decisions made on every single level. The scene at fake Leene's Square could take up an entire episode in itself. It's just a fascinating fiasco.

@wiqidbritt: I don't think they're great, maybe not as bad as they think on the podcast but I could definitely do without them over the course of the Horizon games. The Avatars do really suck though, soulless dead doll eyes and they give you about 14 cookie cutter looking cell phone commercial people to choose from. That part is actually a giant red flag for me that this is the studio that's possibly working on Fable.

I really really appreciate it when Dan prefaces his questions with "I have a dumb question" or "tell me if this is stupid." That way I can go ahead and fast forward by a few minutes. Thanks.

I kind of agree with Abby - the french dog or whatever it was called sounded good, but seeing that bun-to-dog ratio in the video was rather off-putting to me.

I was definitely the person who wasn't creative enough to come up with costumes. I was even worse than Alex, though - I'm a combination of not creative enough when it comes to tactile/crafting things, and lazy. When I was in 4th grade, I found this ridiculous bleached hair spiky wig in a store and thought it was cool so I got it. I proceeded to use it for every Halloween until I stopped doing after 8th grade. I wore the wig and had fake biker fingerless gloves, and that was about all I did. I added in plastic vampire teeth a couple of times for no real reason. I can't even say what I was supposed to be, because there was no real answer. I was just wearing the wig. Usually when people asked they'd ask it like "oh, are you x?" and I would just say yes for simplicity. I think most of the time they thought I was a werewolf for some reason.

The video game I would want a huge in-depth documentary about is Cave Story. That game was made by one dude over the course of several years and it would be super interesting to learn about how it came to be and the impact it has had on the indie game scene.

@lentfilms: Yeah, one-person indie games that come out of nowhere and are widely played seem like they'd be really good documentary subjects. I'd watch a doc about Cave Story, Spelunky, Undertale, you name it.

I remember buying a novelization of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time a long time ago. From what I remember, it was one of those that was written in the style of a player's guide, with memorable passages like "Morpha fell after Link struck its core 10 times".

My favorite old save bonuses are the ones you get in Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. First of them is being able to get the weapons returning from Going Commando for free. The second one is a straight 10% discount on almost everything else. This one is especially funny because there's a segment in the first game where Ratchet becomes a Gadgetron employee, and gets an employee discount which takes two years to kick in. Up Your Arsenal was released two years after the first game. That's a long way to go for a joke.

@spindini: I agree, its too bad that most on the crew won't try it now. Its leagues better than Origins in pretty much every aspect IMO.

Ok, I understand this is my own biases coming out, but why does it feel like Bakalar just can't stop himself from pooping all over everything Xbox-adjacent? Any time there's any remotely interesting Xbox news, Jeff first expresses disinterest with a dismissive noise, then goes into skepticism that it will work out for whatever reason, makes a generally-unrelated complaint about something, and then changes the subject as quick as he can. I'm almost shocked he acknowledged Horizon being "fun", in between complaints about loading time and freaking damage modeling (entirely absent from previous discussions of oh.. GT Sport, Project Cars, etc.). We talk about Google, but no mention of what XCloud might do. They discussed PS Now and others talked about how Game Pass has been doing good things (granted, none of them really knew much), and Jeff just shut that down.

Obviously, dude is a professional and I appreciate his somewhat sardonic take on things, and I don't think he's trying to do this (and maybe isn't at all and it's just me), but it very much feels like I will never be able to get any interesting discussion about my platform of choice on this podcast (also because Vinny doesn't touch his). Not the end of the world, but not personally what I want.

Anyway, ignore me. My opinion hardly matters. Just wanted to voice my displeasure.

100% with Abby on the hot dog situation. I don’t want a raw slippery dog in my mouth. I want the bun to contain the situation. This is important why aren’t we all talking about it.

I find the complaint about the lack of damage modelling in Forza completely insufferable, especially considering how much Jeff despises weapon degradation.

I also was a person who made my own nonsensical Halloween costume much like Alex. My best one was buying an inflatable dolphin from a pool store and cutting it up to make it wearable then I put on a three-piece suit and called myself Bottlenose Lawyer. The only drawback is because I live in Phoenix it was unusually hot and vinyl does not breathe so I was very sweaty the whole night.

Witcher 2 to Witcher 3 had a save import that I liked, you can keep the neck tattoo, which is a nice feature.
