This is no doubt the best time to be playing video games, but is it the best time for VR games?

It kind of blew my mind when Vinny mentioned Soldat. I hadn't thought of that game in a looong time.

I would love to see Soldat played in Us vs. Them.

Also, I'm sure they have enough laptops lying around to do more videos of old multiplayer PC games in general.

I'm not very decisive when it comes to Beyond Good & Evil 2. I think it would be a better approach if its not directly linked to the franchise, but rather be made as a spritual successor where the gameplay and atmosphere is similar. Ancel is creative enough to come up with something new and funny while still staying true to what made BGE great. The name alone doesn't make the product great...I wait until it arrives, if it arrives.

I don't know, creators don't always stay cohesive also...which is a good thing! People change and so do the things they produce (if their publisher allows them to do so, but thats a different topic). More than often it is better to just let an artist do their art. Production Hell sure isn't a pleasant phase should it happen.

RE: Addams Family and Munsters talk (!), there was a Munsters reboot a few years ago called Mockingbird Lane on NBC. They only aired the pilot as a Halloween special, and it was never picked up for series. It was developed by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisies) as more of a dark comedy-drama, and I didn't think much of it. Jerry O'Connell played Herman (not Frankenstein-esque, but he was made from other body parts), Portia de Rossi played his wife Lily, and Eddie Izzard played Grandpa. Bryan Singer directed the pilot.

I want to say thank you guys for talking about PSVR in a control environment since it is good just with the small problem with the motion.

My favorite bombcast is the Jeff Green one where he reads the Nintendo wiiware or whatever. That shit was hilarious. Vinny the intern was on assignment though. :(

During the "under priced game" discussion, I'm a little surprised they didn't bring up the idea of switching to a "pay what you want" model. I realized they kind of went on a tangent about subscriptions but it seems like the most obvious solution to raising your ceiling.

If you set the lowest price to $1 then you aren't losing money but now you are able to have people who want to pay more pay more. I believe that a good community would definitely support that kind of model.

Then, you can have real world data on what people will actually pay for your game and adjust your pricing for future dlc, expansions, etc.

I like how everyone's coming out of that stream going, "hey Thumper looks boss AND I can just get it on Steam for not VR".

There was also a surprisingly-not-short-lived "Munsters" show in the late '80s, with Lee Meriwether as Lily and character actor John Schuck as Herman. It actually ran a few seasons (in syndication, I think).

What is confusing about VR is that the press has had three years to get "over it" before the general public has even had a real chance to see it. So I have trouble knowing whether their disappointed feelings will effectively map to my own or not.

The "uneven, early adopter novelty/tech demo stuff" followed by more substantial experiences a year or so down the road seems like a totally normal path for a new and novel piece of technology... but the press has effectively already experienced a completely different release "path" than the general public.

I feel like I'm getting into a band on their major label release because the radio single sounds great and my friends are all talking about about how they already peaked on their underground EP two years ago.

And I'm like, "I don't know how to feel"

I don't think they should feel like they have to apologize for VR coverage. I want them to talk about whatever they want, without having to worry about people complaining.

There actually was an attempt at a "The Munsters" reboot television series in 2012. It was called Mockingbird Lane and the show runner was Brian Fuller, who brought us Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, Hannibal, and the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery (a fine CBS property). The network all but cancelled it before it even aired. I thought the pilot was pretty good, I saw it at Brian Fuller's Comic-Con panel in 2012. Eddy Izzard and Jerry O'Connell were in the cast so it is too bad it never took off.

At least so far as the shows go, I liked The Munsters and didn't like The Addams Family. Though, Munsters didn't hold up super well when I watched it again this year (last year?).

Why have a traditional marriage ceremony if you don't like those things? You don't need those tired traditions if that's not what you enjoy. Make your own event.
