Murder Island: The Island of Murder Island (05/22/2017)

I would like them to try a game mod where they hang at the edge of the white circle and don't move until the new smaller circle is formed. This way maybe they won't live in constant terror of the blue line and realize at least in the beginning of a game the blue won't kill them that fast. To be fair they have mentioned it before but in the heat of battle they seem to forget it and dash into the new circle too soon and too far IMO.

Boy you don't get many points on team mode if you don't kill anyone but make top 10. I've only played solo so far but even top 20 you get like 100 or so (I think).

I'm more worried about my starting outfit than winning.

Vinny is so amazing. I love these streams.

They made 8 billion USD on the first one despite filming it all on Iphones with a budget of $14.57. They never planned on all these sequels and don't have a story to carry it but how do you say no to that kind of return!?

Over the last couple Murder Island sessions I've noticed a trend: Alex is a stone-cold killer.

I could have sworn this video was titled 'The Treasure of Murder Island', but now it's 'The Island of Murder Island'. Am I crazy? Am I misremembering?

Let me just say, I really appreciate whoever fixed their mic setup so it isn't picking up the thumbing sound of key presses transmitting through their desk. That was annoying to the point of distraction in the last video.

Since Alex shot Vinny in the first episode he's clearly been practising and getting better. Everyone else has become hilariously worse. Through tears of laughter I can sympathise - After reaching the levels of a vaguely competent coward in the game, I now suck badly,

The movies say it takes a long time to die from an abdominal gunshot. Dan was probably going to be alright after Vinnies 'miscalculation'.

Vinny is a team killing monster and I wouldn't have it any other way. We all know that he's hired by Murder Island to murder his own crew.

There are probably strategic teamwork coordination things they could do better, such as not murdering each other, but you know, it's all in good murder fun.

I don't know if this is a color-blind thing with the name tags or Vinny is legally blind, but he killed both Alex and Dan!?

These guys clearly jacked up the settings to make the game easier...that's probably a thing that should be fixed.

I really love this cross-coast content, and such a great game to facilitate it!

That being said, I think you guys just need to get better at shooting. I guess it is as Jeff once put it (if I'm not mistaken); being a critic does not allow time to get good at games. Never the less, this series is great fun!

This is an awesome series!

I've been playing a good bit of PUBG recently, and it's incredibly fun. Thoroughly enjoy the looting combined with sneaking around and planning moves to be in the play area. IMO playing in a squad is a lot more difficult than solo, just because your awareness has to be on high and you've got to employ effective communication. Free look (alt + mouse) is crucial!

I have had a lot of success with staying put and letting people come to me. Even if you're low on ammo for a long range weapon, if you use a short range weapon (e.g., shotgun) to your advantage, you can take out people who will give away their position easily. I've found that it's a lot better to maintain stealth than be aggressive and expose yourself.

I dunno, I feel like this series has run its course. They don't seem to be getting better and the stories seem to be getting worse and worse.

Also a bummer to hear the loot or at least the cars aren't random, I mean I thought that was one of the foundations of this concept.

Pretty sure Vinny has killed more of his own people, than he has enemies, over the course of the Murder Island series. He is a really good, supportive teammate... until the bullets start flying... or the cars start driving... or heaven forbid both things happen at once.

I think my favourite moment was Alex calling Abby 'Oracle'.

Also every time the big "s" scar in the set piece behind Vinny made me freak out that my tv is fucked up. So there's that.

Vinny is so bad. Jeff isn't so great either. Dan kinda sucks. They suck individually but they're even worse as a SQUAD.

They should try Duos, I would like to see some Brad/Alex action. Vinny and anyone else would be entertaining as hell. I would like to see some Jeff solo, he likes to die alone, he likes to murder alone.

Vinny needs to crawl more. All of them do, really. They always run towards people standing up. They might as well be yelling at them "Hey I'm right here! Shoot me!"

The most basic tactic anyone can do is never run towards the enemy standing up. Always crawl! You see it all the time in war movies, and hear about the military training with it (they do, I know from experience) for a reason.

I'm rewatching this almost exclusively for Vinny murdering half his team in cold blood and then denies it. Although I think there's a ton of funny chaos on this Murder Island.

Vinny is innocent!

Alright, somewhat clickbait, but hear me out. Mistakes were definitely made, but it's not as bad as you might think. There are a couple of factors that makes this apparent betrayal more complex than it seems.

1st of all, the obvious: Vinny is colorblind. Hard to say for sure how much this affects visual cue processing overall, but probably significantly from what I understand about color blindness.

2nd: Watch the moment when Vinny turns to Alex (1:13:10~). Alex goes right in front of the yellow wall, lit up by sunlight. Although the choice of teal on ally name tags is overall good, because it contrasts well with almost everything in the mostly concrete and natural setting of the game, it is a very bright teal. At this key moment, it becomes fairly hard to see the bright text in front of the brightly sunlit wall, especially in such a short time frame.

This might seem like a really small point, but let's bring back color blindness. Take a look at this chart showcasing the color spectrum of deuteranopia, which IIRC is the type of color blindness that Vinny has (Jeff has protanopia I believe). You'll probably notice immediately that two parts of the deuteranopia spectrum stand out, and look very similar to each other; one part is white and the other, while tinted slightly blue, is still mostly white-ish. Yep, they're yellow and teal. Alex's teal name tag when in front of the yellow wall, which happens at the point in time when it's most important for Vinny to identify the existence of a tag before deciding whether or not to shoot, is basically the same color for him and likely close to impossible to see.

(Edit: after watching further, Vinny later watches a gif of the moment multiple times, and indeed says he cannot actually see Alex's name tag at all, even in the gif.)

3rd: Watch from 1:13:05. Watch where Dan is pointing and shooting, and what he is saying, and then think about Vinny's perspective.

Dan is aiming towards the guy in the corner of the house (let's call him Guy 1), who Vinny has absolutely no idea is there in the first place. So, Vinny thinks Dan is looking (and shooting) through a window instead, at a guy outside the house and further away (who is actually Alex).

Of course, there isn't actually a window in that house at that spot, and therefore Dan can't actually see Alex, but Vinny doesn't know that due to his perspective. (He did get a view of that wall and the lack of a window right before at 1:13:00~, but in the heat of the moment the mind doesn't always recall the out-of-view environment perfectly).

Basically, Vinny thinks that Dan is referring to Alex's character, not Guy 1 in the corner, because he doesn't know that Guy 1 exists. Think about it; to understand that Dan is referring to a guy in the corner, Vinny's mind has to somehow justify that, at that moment when he looks towards Dan, Dan and Guy 1 are sitting 2m apart, in the same house, just staring at each other without either of them shooting (I think they were both reloading at that point). Just doesn't make sense. Still, most people watching probably did accurately assess the situation, but it's understandable why Vinny's mind went the other way instead; it thought it was less of a stretch to assume that Dan was instead shooting at something further away, outside the house.

Now at that point, because Vinny has been told by Dan that there's an enemy in a specific spot, he logically goes into a mode of operation that is beyond name tag checking, and fires immediately at a target that, from Vinny's perspective, Dan was firing at too just a split-second ago. After that point, he is committed to the kill and focuses on shooting rather than checking name tags (which is probably still not very visible to Vinny even against the green grass).

And all of this happens in a very short time frame. Yes, Vinny can be a bumbling oaf sometimes, but this was mostly not his fault.

As for also murdering Dan right after, I have no defense. He probably deserved it though.

I love this series but Vinny taking 20-30 seconds to loot a room by using Tab KILLLLLLLLS me. I can loot a 3 story house using "F" in the time it takes for him to loot a single room. It has to load your character model every time, it completely derails your situational awareness, and it's janky AF. Just look at an item and press "F", way quicker. Watching him "Tab" through rooms ABSOLUTELY KILLS ME.

It's not even a subjective, "you should play this way", it's objectively a horrible way to progress through the "looting phase" of the game.

Using tab is far, far superior once you learn it, since it skips the pick up animation, making looting much faster. Also, you can move while you loot with Tab, which is key for looting in dangerous spots (open fields, roofs, or really anywhere) to not get sniped. Watch literally any good player on twitch and you will see that they pretty much never use F.

In this case it's a bit annoying yes, since Vinny seems to have a bug that causes a delay on opening Tab (never seen that happen to anyone else). Otherwise, wrong.

Does it always load the items that slow or is it just Vinny?
