If you look at the giant bomb poster on the left you can see the slightest reflection of what is on screen... and let your imagination do the rest.

Working in IT, specifically data center infrastructure and operations, I can definitely say never jinx yourself saying "Both of these can't fail". I have seen some fun stuff in my time. One that comes to mind is 2 or 3 years ago I worked for a managed hosting company which meant we physically hosted servers that customers could lease.

Anyways customer has an 8 disk RAID 5 which we recommended against since more than 1 failed disk would kill the array. They obviously did not listen. Disk failed. Swapped it, during the rebuild 2nd disk fails killing the array. We try to recover it but it is toast. All good though! They have a backup server! Backup server has same drive config....and a failed drive....a few days later a 2nd drive failed on that as well and the data was lost. I don't know what exactly they lost but I know they requested we send the drives to a 3rd party data recovery company.

Moral of the story, if it can fail it will, even the best backup system can't be bullet proof.

I realised at some point I only watch a small segment of the gameplay in GomL anyway so this actually works out mostly fine for me. It'd be cool to see someone link successful runs of all the featured levels just to see them though.

@benpack Is it still possible to get a list of the course ID:s played in this episode? I usually try to play most of the levels you choose to feature.

THEATER OF THE MIND

My first reaction to the start of this was thinking "Does Jeff sit there every episode and silently observe the recording of all of these?" but then the actual thing became clear shortly thereafter. It is funny to imagine that he was there quietly mocking Ben for every show.

Put the gameplay on the TVs on the front of the desk just in case next time.

@royalghost: Yeah it was unfair of me. Not knowing what happened I shouldn't have said it was his fault. My original thought was he's sitting there, how could he not notice he wasn't getting gameplay? The preview shows whats going out. The video only shows the wide shot so unless the system didn't record whatever was going to program feed I'm not sure how this happened. Most systems take every camera and dump them to preview, the director / producer / editor combines the cameras into one feed which goes out to the stream. That's typically called the program feed, which is usually the thing that's recorded. So i'm not sure what happened other than the program feed was never switched off the wide. They got audio and the wide shot, so signals were being fed into the system, and Jeff and Ben never noticed anything wrong so they likely had all of there monitors working in the studio. So unless the system simply failed to record the combined shots of the program feed which I have never heard of before in all my days of doing AV, i'm not sure what happened.

But, yes maybe a little unfair. I was not in the room so I don't know what happened. So what do I know.

Who is this old Geoff Grestman dude? I thought this show was for Millennials, like Dan Ryckert.

I guess we should add the gameplay to the bottom screens next time. Boo. At least we have the reactions.

@heelmaggle: My assumption based on the description is that the feed was recorded properly, but as soon as they finished and it exported something died and destroyed the output file, but they still had the wide shot.

This, right after a video for this series in which Vinny repeated multiple times to double up recordings! How unfortunate! I guess it's still a good audio track to listen to while playing something else.

Glad to see (well, hear) my level getting played and you guys having fun trying to get through it, and glad you decided to post this video even if the gameplay feed is missing :P
