LOL at that line about it being a "bethesda thing" to have meaningful choice and consequences. They have not done anything like that since the second ES game.

I'm glad I finally got to see what this game is. I'll definitely get it now. I didn't realize it would be coming out this year though

definitely one of the most exciting games coming out this year, it does like like the first big upgrade in this style of game in a decade or so.

this looks incredible, totally my kind of thing, and god, bethesda, learn from this...in the meantime I will happily give my cash and time to the branch off that does (seemingly) everything smarter when you directly contrast it to the gigantic sprawl with out of date everything in scroll-out games. Making your own adventure sandboxes are fun, but only if the game loop around it is top notch, and even then, that sandbox has to be good, ie 'character', or 'personality'... game world design that has purpose more than just being more sandbox. outer wilds seems to get it. Not just but it seems they are wiser for having probably sat down and talked through all the shortcomings of the era in which they made new vegas shine regardless. IE- art, conversation/ambient npcs that are believable, at the minimum, but also incredibly good considering you are staring them in the face, and can follow how they feel as sentences play through, it's impressive.

Especially when you consider how much speech drives the experience of these games, I just don't understand what it is they are hoping to achieve at Bethesda Studios when Obsidian, having made what is by many considered the best Fallout with new vegas- go on to on their own, build from the ground up a game that just 'does it right' when everything Bethesda touches these days turns to shit.

The humans look human, there is plenty of ambient animation, movement looks snappy, NPC's emote subtly as sentences they speak begin and conclude, not the static Angry line = furrowed pout for entire interaction. The gunplay looks great in this, the environments look colorful, very colorful, and it seems their art team really understood how enemy colors and environments they live can be fantastic, and look like it belongs. It all looks dynamically lit, environments look diverse and I was ESPECIALLY impressed with the way they seem to solve 'hiding in grass' visual obstruction (you know exactly what I'm talking about), by managing an 'oil paint smear' + transparency effect that makes it look cool instead of just alpha-phasing or janky bending of planar geometry.

Parts of interiors look a little 'blocky' to me but detailed and 'hand carved' in texturing that reacts to light in a way I do like, not too over the top, but it pops and shines when it needs to and has style that identifies as unique and deliberate.

Now take fallout, right, it has none of these good things. Bethesda, please learn from this. Or better yet, I'm going to buy and enjoy the hell out of this, and continue to support Obsidian so they make more games and hope they pave the way for first person rpg games.

This looks like a mix of Fallout, Borderlands, and Mass Effect and I AM HERE FOR IT.

Been looking forward to this game since I heard Tim and Leonard was working on a new rpg.

I tend to really like Obsidian RPGs and this video made me even more excited for the finished game.

after reading about chris avalone's experience at obsidan etc i had really low expectations for this but it looks pretty damn good.

The main developers, Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, are literally the original creators of Fallout, before Bethesda bought the license. Boyarsky is the one who originated the entire retrofuturistic art-style of Fallout! Even consider the modern first-person era of Fallout, Obsidian is the studio that developed New Vegas.

Expected more from Leonard Boyarsky

This looks awesome. Really excited for another Obsidian "Fallout" game. New Vegas is one of my favorites.

It's a shame it's an Epic store exclusive for a year. I'd rather play it on PC my first go around, but won't support Epic. Looks like it'll be a PS4 purchase for me, and then maybe on PC after a year.

This seems serviceably like a new Fallout game but it being such a carbon copy seems like it's a bit... soul-less.

@pimblycharles: I am pretty sure it will be available on the Microsoft Store at release. It might even be part of their game pass at launch.

So if you don't like Epic there does seem to be another option.

Game being around 20 hours long is maybe my favorite thing about it, or at least close to. It did look pretty alright otherwise too and since it's part of Game Pass, I'll get to try it whatever's the case. I'm only slightly disappointed that I can't play as any wonky alien race, but just dull humans.

It'll be on Game Pass at launch.

Wow, this looks so much better than the e3 stuff. Graphically this has really improved. I'm very impressed. I want everything this game is selling. No matter what corporation it is!
