Only Daniel J. Ryckert could conceive as something as goofy as Lizardman shots... but now I really want to try it.

This is the only series I wished I couldn't see the video length. It takes away all suspense...

Using that rule in the picture hides the timer of the video from the GB player for any url that contains this-is-the-run,

also I have a second one for the same url that hides

//div[contains(@class, 'js-vid-buffer')]

which hides the buffer line as well (the red line that fills in as the video plays) so that way on this is the run videos you can watch without knowing how long it is or how much is left!"

Dan is the worst best Soulcalibur player.

"Vinny stop everything" is Dan's catchphrase this series.

I'm just so proud at Vinny utilizing sidestep very early on in this series.

Dan is the worst person to play fighting games with.

Doesn't look like Vinny can win with luck alone. Dan is too good.

Yeah I think they should fill in the end of the video with 8 minutes of luchadeer or something if it's 2 rounds long so we can't tell ahead of time who wins the 2nd round.

Fuck. I want to play some damn Soul Calibur now. Fuck. I don't have any Soul Caliburs. Fuck.

Vinny was getting there but then got impatient. Don't overdo the same attack but he was beating Dan with fundamentals and grabs, with sidesteps. Once he gets some of the special moves down I think he can win this.

I was about to say, I feel like an idiot for forgetting who is on which side, but then Vinny also made that mistake too lol

Lizardman still looks cool as hell.

Ivy's a pretty advanced character to play as. I was never particularly good with her, but she's definitely my favorite character. As far as her looking like she'd be pretty quick, I think she just takes an elegant approach to fighting that compromises speed for a look of confidence. That said, her slower fighting style makes a lot more sense when you're using her weapon in whip form. Either way, Ivy's a bad-ass. I hate what Namco did to her design in later installments.

For anyone who is wondering (Dan), the soul charge makes all attacks automatic counter hits for the duration, or until you block. That means you get more damage and longer stun for better combos.

You can also press guard while charging to do a SPIRIT charge, which makes certain moves unblockable, such as Kilik's up+vertical. Note that unblockable moves can still be defended with Guard Impact. Apparently, a lot of moves gained this property in the Dreamcast version of the game.

Every Random battle there's a "random" Inferno

Vinny got worse. As was said hes in the classic fighting game curve. Trying to do moves makes you worse. I think he'll get better in 2 more games. Game 6 he'll win.

That Chrome extension bit below in the comments seems handy enough, but it isn't really that hard to just obscure your view a little while you click the video to go full-screen and wait for the control-slider to disappear, is it? Unless you just can't watch these full-screen and have only limited time to watch GB videos each day, I guess.

Edit; Now that I tested it, that Chrome thing works really well.

I haven't seen dan use a single horizontal attack. I believe he was only ever good at this game because his friends that he played with didn't know how about the 8 way run.

Vinny's establishing the sidestep, once he gets other fundamentals down he's got Dan beat. It sucks that the terms of the contest require a person with no experience to try to learn all the characters at once, but oh well.

That move at around 5:47 is the most Dan Ryckert ass move I've ever seen.

Huh, I didn't know this version of Soulcalibur had save states. ;)

You all underestimate Dan. This series will take a long longer than you think it will. The ironic part is that while everyone thinks they're gonna help Vinny by breaking things down, Dan is much more likely to look at all this info and adapt. I guarentee you see him cut down and on verticals and start to bait Vinny into side-step punishes.
