@AjayRaz: WWE and TNA, mostly. But we make fun of everything because we're well aware that wrestling is dumb.

Was initially just listening to this in the back, but when Cherstep came on, the game became sort of tolerable to watch. Helps that it was Unreal style at that point.

So what I'm saying is, bring back Unreal (with dubstep).

Drew saying he hasn't read Jeff's review and saw the score, even though he works at GB, almost perfectly encapsulates the state of game reviews.

Don't get me wrong - I like Scoops - but doesn't it seem sometimes like the points he makes during discussions sound like a book report from someone who didn't read the book?

Drives me crazy when he steps on other people while they are talking, to essentially finish their sentence for them.

I don't say this as a hater, because I'm not. Scoops is good people overall. But sometimes the tendencies I describe above are really noticeable - he did it a bunch on this week's podcast too.

Once again unable to finish TnT because of Cher. Seriously Vinny? Please, for the love of god STOP! It was funny the first 20 times... Now it's beyond annoying! My Mom made me listen to that song on repeat when I was in High School! I've heard that song enough for 2 lifetimes!

Usually true, but it depends on how the game/engine handles lag compensation, which parts of the game logic gets calculated by the client/server side and which of those take priority.

"Perks" or as I correctly term it, "Talents" are an ugly crutch that immediately brings in negative baggage that RPG-based multiplayer games have been struggling to control for years. The dev team gains a grope at the lizard brains of their clientele at the cost of poopsockers gaining an advantage over the True Casuals and the formenting of the false confidence in a playerbase when it's only the character growing better, not the player. Also, the cognative dissonance of RPGs catching flak for grinding while FPSs get a pass for adding it on.

I'd consider it a philosophical question as well if it wasn't for the fact yet another FPS multiplayer stalwart didn't bolt this thing on again; less for any balancing reasons than to fill what to most must feel like a phantom limb of not getting a dopamine hit off of play.

It's not that, it's your bloated and frankly pretentious manner of speech. It's overly wordy and unnecessarily complex. I know you think it sounds all erudite and shit, but there's something to be said for dialing it back a little bit. You can make the same points in ways that are much more simple and enjoyable to read... that's all I is sayin..

There's like, two $5 words there. I like synonyms, sue me. The rest are specific terms necessary to the message.

Maybe I'll go back to not proofreading my deep thought posts for spelling errors so there's two things to discu...er talk about.

And now, back to my regular parrotting of personal favorite GB memes posts.

I think its refreshing to see someone write properly and not use words just to please the lowest common denominator. It's great so see someone not destroyed by the message board way of writing and actually use the education they've got. And if someone feels that the text is pretentious or complex probably won't have anything worth while to add to the thoughts presented in the text to begin with.

That's not true, I just think he was over-thinking his language. If you like that style then fine, I just find it unnecessarily verbose and bloated.

That's not true, I just think he was over-thinking his language. If you like that style then fine, I just find it unnecessarily verbose and bloated.

I'm with this guy. ""Perks" or as I correctly term it, "Talents"" was a particularly hilarious and unnecessary part. And for all of his florid language and verbosity, he isn't even accurate.

Perks exist so that players can customize their character, and further specialize their playstyle. They also almost always result in a negative tradeoff, and don't make your character "better" in any sort of binary way. If I take the "Ammo" perk, it's at the expense of the quick weapon change perk. If I take the autosentry, it's at the expense of the jetpack, and so on.

RPG's are accused of being "grindy", specifically because your character often DOES simply get "better" with every level - base stats go up, armor and weapons get better stats, etc. There is no comparison between this, and letting players customize their weapon loadout, or letting players trade-off advantages through armor modifications.

So yeah - if his decision to be intentionally wordy was in service of some greater point, I'd have no issue with it. As it stands, it's just a mess of inaccurately used phrases (he misuses "cognitive dissonance", for example), poor arguments, and hilariously unnecessary, arrogant asides (""Perks" or as I correctly term it, "Talents"" - as though manufactured video game concepts have a "proper" name).
