Quick Look: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction

I love Rainbow Dicks

Today I learned that @rorie addresses exploding aliens the same way he talks to dogs.

This looks like it has some interesting mechanics that change up the way games in this genre are usually played, but it also doesn't look fun. And the guns and gun attachments look really weird for some reason.

This looks like a cross between Siege and Deep Rock Galactic, but Deep Rock has so much more charm and polish, not to mention more interesting destruction and progression.

@mattmanmcfee36 its more like GTFO when things get loud it gets bad. but its been a lot of fun to play with friends.

@deadactionjones: yeah I got strong GTFO vibes when I first saw this. It comes off to me as though Ubisoft took a look at GTFO and said, "hey this game's got some great ideas, maybe if it had silenced guns and a progression system people would actually play it."

That said, as someone who has put 300 hours into GTFO, I don't find this game appealing at all.

With this game and Anacrusis we really are living year of goo-op shooters.

There's some appeal in a stealthy variant of 'one of those' but at the end of the day, i think it's straight up more enjoyable when there's a larger difference between 'we're cool' and 'we're fucked'. Here you have to deal with 10-20 enemies if you fuck up. I prefer the idea of having to deal with 50-200 enemies in these situations instead. The best thing about these games is mowing your way through a wave of enemies, throwing a clutch grenade into a group of 10 enemies and somehow manage to keep yourself alive at the end of it. This just seems like your HP slowly but surely drops to the point where 1 or 2 enemies will be able to kill you off.

Oh well, it's probably good that not all of these games go for huge zombiewaves.

To answer your question, yes majority if not all the starting characters are from Siege.

I wonder if there was an idea to add more personality and life to these Siege characters with more fleshed out story & cutscenes or even just some banter during missions. Like even L4D gave those characters personalities and there was no story!

fuck, this game seems like a bad time

It's a shame Tom Clancy died before he could write his book about slime aliens and the soldiers with wacky expressive cosmetics that fight them.

Hey guys, just wanted to say I've really been enjoying these "split window" Quick Looks!

I played a couple hours of this with a friend. Seems like it is for fans of Siege who would like something more than that game's Terrorist Hunt mode. Found the difficulty kinda tough even at the easiest setting, those exploding enemies can really screw you as they did Jess and Rorie in like the first 10 minutes of this video.

The mechanic of shooting the slime on the ground to clean it up is interesting but extremely silly and gets tedious pretty fast. The fact that the final item in the grenade/perk progression is a laser that clears the slime for you is kinda shitty IMO.

This is absolute drek. It's machine tooled to be as boring as possible, from the menus to the cutscenes to the maps to the gameplay. Ubisoft has got this down to a science at this point.

This feels like the first "classic" formatted Quick Look in many months. The game looks boring as fuck but I'm enjoying watching just for the vibes.

From jeff's quick look, he said it's worst than back for blood, another game people were screaming about being this new hit and I'm guessing it's gone...So as someone who even found the beloved COD zombies/Left4Dead boring...would I like that rock game people mentioned that's like this. I got it free on ps plus but haven't gotten around to it. Caveat I mostly only played a quick looks length of L4Dead, and much like jeff kinda figure my opinion from the first bite of my sandwich when it comes to that genre. I think they're good games thou, and should be fun if your into just shooting with friends.

That tutorial made me not want to play this game

I have really enjoyed my time with Rainbow Six Extrcation. I know a lot of people found the visuals unappealing, but the idea of military scientists fighting aliens is really cool to me. I'm looking forward to seeing if/how they support the game in the long run.
