It's going to be a slobber knocker.

This game is confirmed for PS4 but a release date has not yet been set. Sometime after the final build on PC comes out a PS4 version will be released. The dev said since Sony doesn't allow early access that this is the way it had to be done.

Did they stop doing cross-country Quick Looks entirely? This feels like it would've been apt to have Jeff in on, even though he's not a Fire Pro guy he's one of the big wrestleheads of the site and it would've been interesting.

I thoroughly enjoyed this QL and I don't even like wrestling. That last match was AMAZING.

As someone who has never played a Fire Pro game in his life, I picked this up when it came out last week. I've been slowly learning the controls since then. Initially, I didn't think much of it -- "maybe this game isn't for me," I thought.

However, over the weekend, I sat down and had a handful of matches and I have to say that this game is hugely satisfying to play when you start really getting the rhythm of everything down.

If anybody out there was in a similar situation to me (never played it but has interest), do yourself a favor and go get it! It's only $20 and the workshop support alone makes this game worth that amount of money. Have some patience with it because the payoff you get when you get the hang of the grappling and striking controls is certainly worth it if you're a wrestling fan!

@danryckert For a bit more context on why Naito treats the IC Belt like trash....

Naito used to be a super clean babyface years ago that the company was pushing super strong but the crowds didn't accept him as a top guy(think current day Roman Reigns but with a much cleaner look). In 2013, Naito won the G1 Climax and challenged Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship for the main event in the Tokyo Dome. The crowds in Japan felt that was a weak main event, so NJPW held a poll on what should main event the Tokyo Dome and Tanahashi vs. Nakamura won the poll and they main evented in a match for the IC Championship over the Okada vs. Naito IWGP Heavyweight Championship match.

Naito left for a bit, went to Mexico, and came back a member of Los Ingobernables with a "I fucking hate NJPW" attitude. Eventually this new heel gimmick became huge in Japan and the crowd now accepts him as a main eventer. When he eventually won the IWGP Championship, he treated the belt like trash because he never forgave the company for taking away his main event at the Tokyo Dome. He did the same with the IC Title when he had that.

I think they should do a series where they do an AI tournament of all the GB crew. 1v1 matches. But they only do one match per episode. At the end there is some sort of actual prize.

Ideally they would put up two episodes per week and they'd just record a few at once.

Oh and if they wanted to, they could make their own wrestling promos.

I played a ton of Royal Rumble and Raw on the Genesis back in the day, and this gives me those vibes. Not exactly the same type of combat (which kinda sucked in those games), but I'm inclined to pick this up at some point if only to go nuts in the editor.

I LOVE this game right now. I never really played any of the Fire Pros before so the timing-based grappling was really odd at first but once you get used to it, it's really feels better than the button mashing of the Yuke's games. Also the Workshop has been fantastic as you can see. I do hope they polish the visuals a bit but that's why we have Early Access.

NJPW is pretty darn great. Nice to see Dan come around on it. The Friday shows on AXSTV are a must-watch.

Happy Dan was into this, I could see him loving Fire Pro. That battle royal was such fun to watch. Delighted they used the awesome Giant Bomb creations from the workshop.

Have high hopes the developers will keep adding awesome stuff to this game.

The community creation aspect seems dope as hell. I don't think it's a game I necessarily would want to get good at timing moves and I'm not sure the novelty of a dream/nightmare roster could carry it for me. If nothing else I'm interested to see what this game looks like in a "finished" state. Seems like it would be the perfect game for League of Heels if that is indeed still a thing. Godspeed to these devs because I feel like things could get rather litigious real quick. So all it took to get Dan to jump on the NJPW band wagon was for Kenny to have the best matches ever? I see how it is... Alex is the only authority on staff I trust when it comes to pro wrestling. Thanks to him I've been a New Japan fan for 3 years running.

I was thinking the same - it looks like they drew some nice looking sprites then put an overly-aggressive smoothing filter over everything.

That said, the Steam workshop stuff with the level of detail it lets you get it looks really neat - I'm tempted to pick it up to mess around with dumb Al matches, and I don't even like real wrestling.

That Mount Your Friends guy is amazingly made.

Nice to see Jeremy Corbyn in there too, he deserves another chance at the title.

That was incredibly fun to watch. Abby taking out Dan with that run up shooting star press was hilarious.

Glad people are really into this game! I straight up lost my mind when it was announced.

I'm glad that @danryckert is finally into NJPW, but I find it hilarious that he used AJ Lee as his go-to for "complicated looking submission/stretch maneuver".

Based on what I've heard of Firepro's career/story modes: if they added one of those into this, it would be a day 1 purchase for me.

Doesn't sound like what they're going for, though, so I will simply enjoy watching.

I need this on my PS4 right now.
