@rorie not having a loot filter in Path of Exile is bothering me way more then it should.

If Ben thinks Path of Exile is comically impenetrable (judging by his comments and expressions), DOTA must be much simpler than I thought...

I kind of love seeing people's faces when they see the skill tree for the first time.

I agree with the handful of other people saying that PoE has definitely stepped up their tutorialization as you pick up new items and come across new mechanics. That being said, I've been playing the game on and off since closed beta in 2012, and I still use the wiki, the official forum, and the subreddit if I have any questions. They're great resources!

@rorie: You'll definitely want to use a Quicksilver flask in place of one of those health flasks! Being able to run away from damaging AoE attacks is super clutch. Those hammers flying out are probably from an enchantment on one of your items received when you completed the Labyrinth.

This is probably one of the best upf's I've seen for a while. The games weren't really the best but the overall feel of it was great

If you like instrumental post-rock, check out Pelican (Australasia is my fav album), Tone (Solidarity), Russian Circles (Station). Or if you just want some instrumental jams: Cosmic Circle (Kick out the Jams), Monomyth (Exo), Stone from the Sky (Fuck the Sun).

@avioto: the problem with Path of Exile, specifically, is that it's quite possible to end up with a character that cannot progress in the game due to too little DPS or, more likely, the inability to survive attacks. You can most certainly play the game and iterate a character through trial and error while learning the intricacies but this can take dozens of hours. Following a build is a good way to learn the game while not ending up with a character that falls off into complete ineffectiveness.

As Rorie mentioned, the game is very much just free and the community has a great support infrastructure around explaining builds, the skill tree, gems etc. The barrier to entry is just time and there's plenty of options to for players to get what they want out of this ARPG.

I was thinking I should leave a comment to show that not everyone shares the same opinions, That the people who think highly of something, or even just content with something are not the ones constantly rushing to the comments each week.

Then I saw a bunch of people already doing that! I'll still continue on anyway: I like Rorie and Ben. And sure I have favourites for certain types of features, but everyone at GB has things they're particularly good at and there isn't one I don't like seeing on the screen at any time.

Before Giant Bomb brought in Rorie, there was a poll on here for "favourite duder related to the site but not a staff member" & as I remember it, Rorie beat Brad Muir in the final

Yes, that is correct. I remember that poll as well. Rorie has always been the "Green Ranger/Magna Defender/Titanum Ranger/etc" to the OG crew's Power Rangers. The guy just on the outskirts that is totally a part of the crew, but just isn't in a bunch of stuff day to day.

I don't know why I went with this Power Rangers analogy, but I'm sticking to it.

I really like these truly Unprofessional Fridays. It brings me back to the spirit of when this series started.

This is the best UPF in ages. When Ben takes the helm everything gets this funny chaotic feeling and it's awesome.

I don't mind Rorie at all, he has a tendency to answer for someone else from time to time but never the less he brings much laughs. Jason too shines in this video, he desvers getting a secind producer there. GB's last hires have been awesome so I'mreally excited to see who comes now.

Rorie and Ben are my favorite bombduders with tall legs and big monitors!

Really though, Ben is fine. It's just on the Bombcast and the Dept. of New Business he tries way too hard with the puns and innuendo. That kills me. When he is just chatting or talking about games he is fine. (Better than Dan even)

My answer is yes.

It sucks that people feel the need to comment on which human beings they don't like on each video/podcast, and it sucks knowing said humans read those comments and thinking how that must make them feel.

So. A lot of self deprecating in this episode. But let me say that this was one of the best UPFs in a while. Great chill vibe and good chemistry between the duders. Good show, old beans.

Path of Exile is an awesome game! I enjoy the experience of playing through the campaign much more than Diablo 3.

Also fuckin' funny to hear Rorie say "normies, reeee". Though personally, I am a big fan of ironic racism :^)

Ben has especially impressed me as a kind, thoughtful young man.

Also, Jason is a goddamned treasure.

Finally watching UPF and I *squeal* as Ben recounts his PAX experience. It was actually PAX 2010 and I too was there at the Poystiq Podcast Appreciation Group meetup (never forget). That was such a crazy experience altogether, I loved it.

I listened to the Bombcast for a good 3-4 years before i came to the site. Heard it mentioned on other podcasts when hosts were asked about what they listen to. Mostly 1UP ones, i think. If i'm not wrong, brad was even on a couple 1UP Yours/ 4 Guys, 1UP (lol) or whatever they were calling it at the time.

But once i started coming here.. its an everyday thing

No Jeff or Brad would normally be a pass, but I do like a bit of introspective Matthew Rorie, so I'll give it a shot.
