@eccentrix: There's a difference between a feature in a game and an actual person. If someone didn't like shooters in general and made a comment on every video with a shooter in it that they didn't like them, that actually wouldn't be helpful at all. There are people who make the same comments about Rorie across multiple UPFs.

Maybe he goes off on tangents a little more than other people. But so does everyone...especially on the show called Unprofessional Fridays. People act like he's the only one who does this.

i'd argue feedback -is-useless if it's non-constructive or regarding something that can't/won't change. matthew rorie, god bless 'em, has been with this crew for what's probably over a decade at this point, and appearing in gb content since the whiskey media days. do you think he (or jeff) hasn't heard it all already?

let's say (hypothetically speaking) you find him "infuriatingly annoying," and decide to declare it so all might know. what's your end goal? do you think jeff notes this, and then gives him a stern talking-to? do you want to find like-minded people and gang up on him? or do you think it's most likely that your thoughts go largely ignored (except by those who get empathetic psychic pain when they see randos pooping on content with specific people in it)?

you don't have to like everyone, and we all have personality ticks that drive a segment of the population up the wall. but there's no need to hold a referendum if you just don't like someone.

side thought: if you're unwilling to DM your "feedback" to a staff member directly- you're probably not expressing worthwhile "feedback" at all.

Rorie's great.

It's not just Rorie's tangents that are the problem it's how often he keeps interrupting people. Don't ask the crew questions and then start talking over them while they try to answer or if any other two people start talking, Rorie just rudely interrupts, overpowers, and derails the conversation into something pointless.

Bummer that Rorie was at the Broken Vessel but didn’t know how to get to him. One of the best fights in Hollow Knight

rorie is a saint and while he may talk nonstop relentlessly sometimes, i'm always happy when he's on the show :-)

will be keeping my eyes peeled sternly on the Coming up on Giant Bomb waiting for a Brad + Will Smith playing Nuts+Bolts series.

@mellotronrules I love Rorie, I just don't agree with your argument that you shouldn't express negative opinions about the core of a product/service. Also, there are always new people here. I'm sure some people take their comments too far or focus on some things too much, but most haven't been here for 10+ years and audience tastes change.

I just watched this, and the only thing Rorie "speaks over" them for is to introduce Will and Dave by name for viewers who might not recognize them. That's it. Not much of an interruption.

Anyway, here's my Rorie opinion: He's great. He makes streams more entertaining.

Rorie is who he is. Complaining that you find him annoying and that he talks too much isn't very constructive. Fine if you do not enjoy him on UPF, don't watch, but he shouldn't have to change anything when he's just being himself. And plenty of people enjoy Rorie for Rorie. Just accept that you can't gel with every personality.

Rorie is the best. He injects some well needed chaos into UPF.

I've come to really love Rorie's rambling and tangents. I enjoyed the show a lot, always a pleasure to see business Dave and Will special guesting also. 7/Madden.

You should never call the cops

Movie with explosive collars round their necks, in a prison with Rutger Hauer trying to escape... Was I the only one shouting WEDLOCK at @rorie?!?! That movie is a terrible 90's classic, up there with Christopher Lambert's 1992 epic, Fortress.

I know San Francisco is their city and all but its hard to say, “but this city is great” after the last year+ of actual news stories from that place lol.

Also, unless someone is attacking one of the duders or being crass there is nothing wrong with complaints, especially constructive. Plenty take it too far but if someone is legit interupting people all the time why is it a big deal to say, “I hope that doesn’t happen the whole time...”? Also, if something is legit over the line then a mod has it. The whole, “I cannot believe someone would criticize a personality!” comments are silly and make me just read their comments like they are shocked, british ladies in victorian times.

The funny thing is though, nobody stops watching anyway, they just moan about the tiniest little things every time. I used to read comment sections on videos oh here and actually not watch some videos because the "feedback" was so intensely agitated that it made it sound like the thing was unwatchable. Then I started watching the videos anyway and realised the things they were complaining about were either not a problem unless you're incredibly anal; or they were such minor annoyances that they in no way warranted such vitriolic comments.

Rorie, out there doing the lord's work. May every UPF be blessed by his presence and may the spirits of chat guide him.

Sight unseen, Rorie on UPF always makes me watch them quicker. He always brings games that rarely get showcased by the other people on staff (now that Austin and Patrick are gone anyhow) and interacts well with the rest of the staff.

I enjoy every last thing he's done for this site on video and always am glad to see him included in content. While I get that people have different tastes, complaining about it like most people do doesn't get anyone anywhere.

Like hey, I don't particularly find Ben and Abby's sense of humor to be my taste. You know how I handle that? I don't watch or comment on the content they are a part of if it seems like I won't like it. And whatyahknow, I am allowed to dislike aspects of stuff some of the staff does, but don't see the need to call it out every time they appear or demand they stop or change just for me.

@eccentrix: Jeff has said time and time again that their numbers are increasing year-over-year, and their content output is changing to match what their data is telling them that people watch. Rorie isn't going to change who he is for the camera because as soon as he does, there will be another camp of people crying about the youTube-ification of GB, and how they're putting on an act, etc. etc.

They're gonna do what they're doing, and those are making the numbers go up for them. Which makes Jeff VERY happy.

Pretty annoying to see Rorie simplify complaints about downgrades to the whole puddle meme. Making excuses/establishing the narrative on devs behalf is lame af.

This was a Rorie-ass stream, and I’m totally fine with that. I like him a lot. Dave is also always top notch, and I want to see him every Friday now.

I just wanna say that I appreciate Rorie introducing the guests when they first speak. I didn’t know who David was, and I thought I recognized Will Smith but I wasn’t sure because I’ve mostly just heard him on the Bombcast.

@ssully: Yes, because all people complained about was the size of a puddle, nothing to do with the overall lighting on the suit (and on the wall behind him) seeming far flatter. Even if it is just a matter of time of day it's a completely valid concern given the noticeable discrepancy and the history of downgrades from graphically focused trailers in the past. You can say you don't think it's a big deal or you think the complaints weren't accurate without playing cheerleader for the devs.

It would be nice if Rorie would let people finish their thought

It is an invalid concern that children is being made by children. There isn't a discrepancy, it is a change, something that happens in game development until release (and now of days it happens post release as well).

I REALLY don't get people complaining about Rorie being Rorie. I think he is immensely entertaining and did a good job hosting this show.

Also, Rorie was there from the beginning and always well liked and the other members really seem to get a lot of fun out of him being himself. Is it newer Giant Bomb members that don't like him?

Saddens me, that he is underappreciated.

He stated he drank a ton of caffeine immediately before the stream.

I am a staunch supporter of Matt Rorie stream-of-consciousness conversations. If it wasn't for Rorie I would've never learned about dark showers.
