What is Rorie doing this entire show where he can't listen to the instructions? He doesn't know what to do at any point.

@wonderva: That may be, but it makes a lot more sense to have someone not on camera do that. It's just not entertaining. And it seems to happen every UPF, stream glitch or not.

It would figure that the first UPF in weeks that I had to leave after the first few minutes of had audience participation. But I guess the stream issues soften the blow.

I have no experience with the first Jackbox, so I have no basis of comparison, but it sounds like the only real decent games were the returning ones. Bomb Corp could be good but the main attraction is wrapped up in a tedious story. (And that awful checkpointing was just so bad. Checkpoints in a party game, who'd have thought.) Bidiots was terrible; way too many rules and game aspects to make a good party game. Earwax was ok, but it seemed like it's incredibly hit-or-miss. For the first couple of rounds, I thought it was incredibly lame, because it wasn't funny at all. But the hot dog zombie noise one was pretty good.

Rorie "i'm not on my game today" should just be on his t-shirt ;) I don't think I've ever seen him pay attention in one of these things beyond asking for a recap of what everyone has been watching every half hour then re-zoning out. Truly the most unprofessional, shine on you absent minded bastard you!

@rorie's laugh on the first Quiplash round (Country Music one) made me lose it laughing hahaha

Have you even watched any other live stream Rorie is in? This isn't the first time he looks barely interested. He always makes a point of paying half attention, and then always finds himself not knowing what's going on. Asking questions or pointing thing out that have already been answered or discussed ages ago. And that's only when he's not nitpicking on every little detail of a game.

Look, no offense to Rorie at all. From stories I've heard, he's a great guy and an amazing person to know. He really does an awesome job at connecting with the Giant Bomb community on the site and being super quick to resolving issues. I love him for that. But as an on camera personality, I can't stand him. Sure he has his moments, but I'm always baffled when people say they love seeing him on the streams.

I like Rorie, but often when he's on UPF it seems he pays far too much attention to his laptop and/or chat to the point there is little point being on the stream. When he's not doing that (e.g. when the laptop power runs out), he's usually pretty enjoyable to watch (except when he is being nitpicking, but that doesn't bother me too much).

Fair enough. I like Rorie and much prefer them to having Rorie on the couch looking at chat rather than what they used to do with having an intern off camera monitoring chat, and could only chime in when Ryan would say "Hey, anything going on in the chat?" Rorie gets a lot of chat participation within the livestreams

Nice to see another Jackbox Party Pack, even though it's a shame they replaced Drawful with that betting game.

In Bidiots, shouldn't they make a really high bid before screwing someone? Or does it fail if the screwed player can't bid? (though if you're keeping track you should know how much each person has)

I guess it doesn't matter too much because that game kinda sucks, but I was curious why they all wasted their screws on garbage amounts.

I was just streaming out some Jackbox games last night. I didn't know about the new games until I saw this, I'm excited. However, playing with randoms on the internet can really suck sometimes. Quiplash just ends up being a lot of dick and rape jokes. It can get old really quickly.

@wonderva: I like Rorie too But a lot of the time we get chat from him he doesn't know the context for the information he's giving. It's just a frustrating way to conduct yourself on a live show.

I don't know what it is about Summer Sanders, but when @drewbert said "She went to Cal!" I thought, "no she didn't, she went to Florida." I'm not sure why I thought that because as it turns out, we were both wrong. She went to Stanford.

Side note - I think it's time for Puyo Puyo Tetris to make a UPF return.

Have you seen the Domestic Dog Simulator QL? It's fantastic and one of my favorite videos featuring him because:

Rorie's frantic pace and how he talks make this kind of perfect as that is how I picture an actual dog to be like.

I don't like being that internet guy, but I gotta echo a lot of the Rorie comments - I'm sure he does a lot behind the scenes and for the site. But for video content, he actually detracts rather than contributes. Frequently throws a wrench into the show by asking questions/clarifications that are obvious or have already been addressed if he'd been paying attention. Relaying chat info occasionally doesn't outweigh that. I would personally rather watch a 3 person UPF than a 4 person UPF with Rorie on.

Rorie was managing the chat pretty much the whole stream, as the stream started 35 minutes late and the audio cut in and out for a good 20 minutes after that. Then the stream would die. Then the audio would cut in and out. Then the stream would die. Jason in the chat said that their streamer went kaputz and Game Spot had borrowed their other streaming box. He managed to get the box from Game Spot and set it up at the end of UPF, which is when the livestream became stable.

So while the other guys were able to play games, Rorie was managing the chat, which was behaving the worst that day (Rorie and Jason don't need 1000 people telling them the audio is down, and they don't just stop the show because the archive won't have the streaming and audio issues).

In the context of Rorie communicating with the 3000 people watching the live stream, he could use some leniency when he isn't paying too much attention to what's going on in the live show

I'm referring to the patterns of his behavior on almost every other UPF and video on the site, not this particular UPF where, yes, his distracted manner was understandable.

I don't really enjoy how cynical the crew is over 4 player couch-coop/couch-competitive games. As opposed to accepting it as another genre they label them as "eh, there's enough of them now."

It's entirely too negative. Honestly.

They usually require a higher level of reflex and mechanics understanding than what they are willing to give them time for. It's really dismissive and kind of off-putting.

Like the sheriff mode in the Thieves game they first played. Instead of understanding how to identifying players in the AI crowd, they dismissed it by shooting immediately and not reading or understanding the rules. You'd think people that reviewed games for almost 20 years they would have more patience in understanding the games they play.

Even in windjammers and their complaint about the lobs. Instead of questioning maybe it was the timing of when they were launching the lobs, they instead blame the mechanics of the game and just say "eh, the other game is better." I can't be the only person frustrated with this.

Regardless, they are still fun to watch despite them being overly dismissive of certain types of games.

To put this into perspective, this would be the equivalent if the crew called all fighting games pretty much the same.
